Hi guys; I was wondering how much you paid to bring your cats to USA from NZ; (or even AU)

When we came from America to NZ in 2008 we brought Emma our 2 year old tabby and it cost us like $2000US because of a 30 day quarantine in NZ and all the other ####### retentive things NZ makes you do before bringing cats to the country.

We are coming back to the US in a years time and now have 2 cats (including Emma) I was wondering how much we would be looking at for each cat??

Thanks guys :-D appreciate it.

It would be a lot cheaper to take them for a drive on a busy road and let them out the car and drive away!

I looked into bringing a small dog from Australia to the US and it was going to cost $1000 just for the freight charge on the flight from Melbourne to LA on Qantas. Then there is all of the other costs, vet health certificate, crate, and the domestic flight within the US. It's expensive.

I just got a quote a couple of days ago to move my 2 cats from Brisbane to Ohio. it will be $2890 for both cats including the purchase of crates and the person to look after them on the 12 hour (mandatory) lay over in LA. This includes all their vet checks at the airport etc. This was with JetPet.

We are going to San Francisco to no domestic flights within the US; I am hoping this will make it cheaper than $3k :-( thats a lot of money.

We love our cats and will do it but still thats a lot of money haha.

I don't think it will make that much difference. This was the cheapest quote I could get, others were in excess of $5000 so we jumped at the $3000. I have 3 kids who are leaving absolutely everything behind for this move they never asked for. They have had these cats all their lives and I think it is only fair I let them take them with us (not to mention I also would miss my boys terribly). I'm just worried what my Queensland cats are going to think of snow!

yeah that $2890 is about what we paid to bring Emma from San Fran to New Zealand; it included her airfare and 30 day stay in quarantine plus about $500 in vet bills to get the necessary shots in the US to come to NZ.

Emma is going to love it when we get back to Reno Nevada; she loves lying on the heater vents in the floor LMAO; I remember as soon as the heater clicked on she would hear it and come running over and plonk her self on top of a vent.
