On my husband's letter for his Biometrics appointment it says if he does not have the proper ID he will not be allowed to continue with the appointment. Will they accept his passport with I-94 as proper identification? Or will we need to have a state issued ID from the DMV to go through with Biometrics?

passport is the best ID you could possibly bring. It is accepted internationally!

All i took was the interview letter, passport and marriage certificate (last name change) and that was sufficient.

Finally time for AOS.......

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

03/14/12 Received Green card in mail.....

....no more USCIS until December 2013

Excellent question. I was planning to renew my son's passport, and it takes between 4-6 weeks before it's returned to me. Biometrics is sooner and if I send it to be renewed, he wouldnt have a passport as ID. Thanks for asking this important question.

Photographs and Fingerprints

USCIS requires photographs and fingerprints for certain applications. The information below tells you which applications require photographs and fingerprints and how they are provided to USCIS.

Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Residence Card

If you are e-Filing Form I-90, you do NOT need to submit paper photographs and you do NOT need to self-schedule an appointment at an Application Support Center for the electronic capture of your biometrics. You will receive a notice in the mail from the USCIS that will provide you with your USCIS-scheduled appointment for capturing biometrics and photographs at an Application Support Center.

You MUST bring the following materials to your biometrics appointment, or processing of your Form I-90 will NOT be completed at your scheduled time:

Biometrics appointment notice.

Photo Identification. Acceptable kinds of photo identification are:

Passport or national photo identification issued by your country, or

Driver’s license, or

Military photo identification, or

State-issued photo identification card.

All required initial evidence, including your prior card OR other evidence of permanent residence or commuter status.

Any supporting documentation, which may include but is not limited to:

Court ordered name change,

Marriage certificate,

Birth certificate, or

Police report for a stolen or lost card.

Form I-131, Application for a Travel Document

If you are e-Filing Form I-131, you will need to submit two identical color paper photographs with your Supporting Documents. See Paper Photograph Requirements for more information.

You do not need to submit fingerprints for this form.

Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization

If you are e-Filing Form I-765, you do NOT need to submit paper photographs and you do NOT need to self-schedule an appointment at an Application Support Center for the electronic capture of your biometrics. You will receive a notice in the mail from the USCIS that will provide you with your USCIS-scheduled appointment for capturing biometrics and photographs at an Application Support Center.

You MUST bring the following materials to your biometrics appointment, or processing of your Form I-765 will NOT be completed at your scheduled time:

Biometrics appointment notice.
