Looks like our packet 3 finally arrived, directing us to go to this website, the link is dead.

I am assuming it is like the packet 3 instructions.

Anyone know anything else?

Hi Jeff and cherry! a few months ago, I just got approved by the NVC and when my fiancee got the letter with a case number, I was then expecting that anytime I would be receiving the infamous "packet 3". Thought it would be loaded with forms and stuff, but to my dismay, just a cover letter and a small cut-out "link" instruction. By the way, I sent my returned packet 3 already before I received the mail. Glad I emailed them and inquired about my case and they replied directing me to the packet 3 link online. My piece of advise, submit all the photocopies of your docs and send it back to them ASAP, as they will schedule your interview on a first come, first serve basis. 2-3 months waiting before the interview date. The counting kicks off from the day they actually receive the returned docs. I would suggest use EMS to secure and speed up the delivery.

Thanks, We too received a cover letter and small cut-out. Wondering if it was the same link? http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas/k_packet3.html

It seems the embassy is getting modern in using the web, and computers. I noticed on a different form very nice, form 160 for other types of visas. Wondering if the link you used was the generic looking packet 3? http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/k_instructions_package_may09.pdf

Which seems good and through.

ALSO, very important to us. The check list to send in form DS-230 is fairly short.

What forms should be send back to the Consulate?

DS-230 Part I (unsigned)

2 passport photos

Copy of passport

DS-2001 Checklist Included with Packet 3, Signed, Stating all Requirements Obtained.

*Must be mailed to the IVU*

U.S. Embassy Bangkok, Consular Section

Attention: Immigrant Visa Unit

95 Wireless Road

Bangkok 10330

Thailand

I read this on the Packet 3 instructions. Note: It states "As soon as you have obtained ALL the documents required to process your case, you must send them to this office with a completed and signed Form DS-2001"

This is scary to me, because we want to do it the right way, but it is contradicting, one says short list, one says "send them" meaning all to me

DOES THIS MEAN WE SEND THE ENTIRE PACKAGE UPFRONT? BEFORE THE INTERVIEW. OR THE SHORT LIST.

FIRST: Obtain the documents on this list that apply to your case (list of documents attached).

SECOND: As soon as you have obtained ALL the documents required to process your case, you

must send them to this office with a completed and signed Form DS-2001 (attached). One DS-

2001 is required per petition.

You must completely fill out all forms. If a question does not apply to you, write ‘Not

applicable’. Do not leave questions blank. Incomplete or inaccurate documentation will

delay visa processing.

Each document must be submitted in original and with a photocopy for each traveling

applicant so that the original document can be returned to you after the interview.

Include an email address on the Form DS-2001 so the IV unit can notify you in writing

of the date of your interview.

Return all the documents and forms immediately by mail to:

US Embassy, Consular Section, Immigrant Visa Unit

95 Wireless Road, Lumpini, Bangkok, 10330

My fiance just sent me a scan of her letter from the Bangkok Embassy, with the same dead link:

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas/k_packet3.html

There is guidance posted at:

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas/packets.html

I'm assuming that information is current on their website but not positive.

I'm also confused on what exactly is necessary to submit with the DS-2001 to get an appointment. I've seen conflicting information too like Jeff & Cherry.

I may try to confirm by sending an email inquiry.

Good Luck.

To give you guys some light and understanding, the attached link is quite confusing, to be honest. Originally, they would just ask to send only the checklist and some DS Forms. I emailed the US Embassy In BKK and asked them for some clarification. this is what they told me, you must send everything (just photocopies). In this way, they could review the docs prior to the interview, and to avoid hassle, if in case the applicant did not bring a specific doc on the actual interview date. I hope this helps.
