Hi everyone, i was study in us high school from oct. 1991 to june 1993, and i left before i was 18, i read some articles and it says that's call overstay, but i never apply for a visa since. But now i wan to go to US for a tour, on the form for visa are two questions i dont know how to answer, please help me. One is did i even been to US and on what visa, but i was too little and my dad handle the visa, i just follow what he told me, so i dont know what visa i had. Second one is have i ever been denied from a visa apply, only time i apply is when i was 14, and my dad go apply for me, so i dont know if i had been denied or not. So what should i put on the application form, and will i have a good chance to get a visa? Does the law starting in 96 apply to me also?

You tell the truth.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Is there a reason why you can not get the information about your past visas from your dad? Doesn't he remember when he took you to the US? Wouldn't he remember if you were denied or not?

On the visa application form, you put the truth. Lying or omitting the truth to get you "a good chance" will lead to a lifetime ban when the US government look in their visa database and find out that you lied.

What 96 law are you talking about? Why do you think you would have an exception to the law?

No I dont think you can if OP is doing DS-160 they are digital and they dont have room for any additional comments or notes.

What you can do is go back and look thru your old passport, I am hoping you have not trashed your old passport.

I highly doubt that the immigration officer will accept "don't know" as answer..

You should definitely communicate with your parents and find out the visa information.

I suspect that communicating with your parents will be a lot easier than communicating with consular officer.

how is anyone supposed to know what visa was applied for by their parents on their behalf when they where 14 years old?? if the parents kept hold of the childs old passport and now the parents arent around any more then finding the information out could be impossible surely??
