Does USC come to Interview with their spouse?

So I'm just looking ahead and planning out how much vacation time I'm gonna be taking off this year and getting some time approved. I have read some reviews that said the couple went to the interview together, I have read other interviews saying "i" did this.. and "i" did that... So I'm assuming they went alone.

I'm wondering if anyone has any insight on whether it matters if both are able to go or not?

I plan to go visit my husband at least 2 times (maybe 3) in the next couple months or so anyway, so I have no problem waiting to scheduale one of my trips for the time of the interview if it would be seen as a good thing that I came with him, but I am unsure if it would be a good or bad thing for the process to have us both there for the interview.

Any advice on this topic??

From what I have read, I think it depends on that specific embassy that the interview will be held at. I am not 100% sure but I do think the USC is allowed to be there. Some embassies allow the couple to be together, while others separate them during the interview process.

Yep. I went with my husband to his interview at the London embassy.

I don't think being there with them counts for or against. I just wanted to go along with him so I could keep him company (it's a lot of waiting around).

In most Embassies and Consulates, only the beneficiary is allowed in the interview area. Some Embassies and Consulates do permit the petitioner at in the interview area. As you stated, it's Embassy/Consulate specific.

We got our answer then because it will be London so it looks like I would be allowed to be there, but it is definitely not something I need to be there for.

I'll talk more to the hubby and see what he's thinking, maybe we will be lucky enough to get an interview date down the line during one of our already planned trips

My husband didn't come to my interview and there really would have been no reason for him to be there, apart from keeping me company as Mrs GH said. He came over once I had the visa and took me back with him - allowed me to take more 'stuff' than I could have carried on my own!

You are not required to go together but I went because I wanted to support my husband and I wanted to be there in case there were any question. Nearly everyone in the London embassy on the day we went were couples. We both went to the first window and we both went to the second window where she asked questions. It was easy and the review is under my timeline and under my hubby's as well.

We stayed at the Millenium Mayfair which was across the road from embassy and a quick walk to the Audley which became the place we went to for most meals. We met up at terminal 5 as we both flew british airways and then took the train to closest stop to Mayfair. We spent a few days exploring London. It was a nice trip and I am really glad that I was there with him. I think it is important for them to see how you handle things as a couple and for them to see us together.

That may be in other embassies but it is not true in London. I spoke with the interviewer at least as much as my husband did.

This information was VERY helpful! Thanks so much for your response. I will take a look at the reviews as well... we have a while before the interview stage (since we JUST received NOA1 I'm sure it's going to be a while.. haha) but it's good to know that me going would probably be a good thing, plus I'd like to keep him company anyway and if we can make a fun London trip out of it that would be cool too!!

For those concerned who are reading this, it indeed depends on the consulate. At several, it's a stated or unstated requirement that the petitioner be present. Petitioners take their relationships and risk throwing them out the window by not appearing in Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and others. Read the reviews for YOUR consulate, and beware.
