Hello VJ members,

I'm worried on the impact of the HR 3012 bill on family based quota's for green cards especially F2A category(Rest of World).i would really appreciate if any one can explain the impact to me.Thank you

dont worry the impacts are minimum....bcaz cut off for all the countries are almost same....so minimum impact on f2a and this bill takes time for becoming law

Wrong. Mexico is traditionally heavily oversubscribed in the F2A category, though they are only slightly oversubscribed currently. If their allotment is increased from 7% to 15% then all other countries will be pushed back in order to allow for a larger proportion of those visas to go to Mexico. Things will get dramatically worse for F2B's, as substantially more of the available visas will be allocated to Mexico and the Philippines. There are nearly 200 countries in the world. Allocating up to 15% of the visas in any one category to a single country is asinine.

yep....this is true for other categories but he is asking for f2a and my opinion is only for f2a....there is minor difference in cut off dates ... so if with only 7% visas ,maxico is only 1 month away from rest of the world then i dont think there should be huge difference if they allot 15%....

one more thing, in f2a we have fx ( 66000 visas) which dont care about per country limits...so i dont think 7% or 15 % of 22000 visas will create major problems for rest of world f2a...i hope this will clear the things...
