It'll be interesting to see the Romney Administration take over and keep those $1 trillion deficits flowing. If he gets 8 years out of us we're talking $20 trillion federal debt, $500 billion in interest on the debt per year by the time he gets through with us. The real government spenders are Republicans. Don't be fooled by Fox News. If you are someone that wants to balance a budget, keep spending under control, grow jobs, then don't vote Republican.

Spending Bills Passed by GOP House Increased Debt $1T in 10 Months

(CNSNews.com) - Federal spending bills approved by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives have increased the national debt by more than $1 trillion dollars in just 10 months.

Republicans won a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives in the November 2010 elections and took control of the House on Jan. 5, 2011, when the chamber convened and elected Rep. John Boehner (R.-Ohio) as speaker.

But the Republican-controlled House did not gain a veto power over federal spending until March 4, 2011. That was the expiration date of the continuing resolution (CR) that the lame-duck Democrat-controlled Congress approved in December 2010. After March 4, federal spending has been approved by legislation that needed to be approved in the Republican-controlled House.

On March 1, 2011, the Republican-controlled House passed its first CR to fund the government after March 4. Since then, it has approved a series of CRs to keep the government funded. The Republican House approved its latest CR on December 16. It will keep the government funded until the end of fiscal 2012 on Sept. 30.

Eighty-six House Republicans went against their party leaders and voted against the Dec. 16 CR, which actually garnered more votes from House Democrats (149) than House Republicans (147).

When the Republican-controlled House approved its first CR on March 4, 2011, the national debt was 14,182,627,184,881.03, according to the U.S. Treasury. As of the close of business on Jan. 9, 2012, the national debt was 15,236,506,139,986.86.

That means the debt increased by $1.05 trillion over the past ten months.

That equals approximately $8,964 for each of the 117,572,000 American households estimated by the Census Bureau.

At the current rate, the Republican-controlled House is agreeing to allow the U.S. Treasury to borrow approximately an additional $896 per month American household per month.

Article 1, Section 9 of the Constitution says: "No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law." Article 1, Section 7 says that every bill "shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate … before it become a Law."

How would RP cut a trillion dollars in spending the first year in office? It's a campaign slogan that he can excite the gullible with but it's not something he can actually deliver. Or something he would even actually try to deliver. All moot points anyways sine Ron Paul will retire very soon.

It looks and sounds like Obama and the GOP helped to save my unemployment insurance benefits. :luv:

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

When have liberals ever gave 2 cents about balancing a budget?

Liberals always want it both ways, if republicans don't agree to more spending, they start whining about poor people and all that ails them, children

in school won't get their lunch or run ads depicting a conservative throwing granny over a cliff.

When republicans do spend tax dollars, liberals say "see, look at those big spending republicans."

The hell with liberals, slash the federal government and slash it deep, we can live with 50% less of the tax eating beast in DC.

Obama should not sign those bills. None became law without his approval.

But it is also the reason that nothing will change when Obama is tossed and one of these slimy "R" politicians takes his place next year.

Tell that to Obama. He does this. He does that. His administration directs changes to laws that help Americans.

Congress writes BILLS. Presidents sign LAWS. I have not seen the congress override any of Obama's vetos on spending bills, so he is signing them and he is responsible.

If Ron Paul were President he could get congress's cooperation, at least to a point by vetoing bills unless they did some of the things he wants. But that takes someone that is not just a slimy politican and none of them are left in the running.

I don't see much difference between Republicrats and Demicans with the exception of Ron Paul.

Presidents do submit a budget to congress, and furthermore we have all these presidents marching us off to war without congressional declarations, then putting congress in the position of saying "no" to funding wars the president already started. That isn't going to happen under Ron Paul. Once he is commander in chief over these ghastly unconstitutional wars, he can end the $400 per delivered gallon of gasoline, the $1 million per soldier deployed, and the payments we are making to the Taliban that are supposedly the enemy we are fighting.

Ron Paul is also the only one bringing significant attention to the Federal Reserve system as the means of financing deficits by printing money and taxing us through inflation. He is the only one not preening around with jingoistic tripe to justfy our war crimes. No more asinine "They hate us for our freedoms". No more hubris regarding the US having the right or ability to govern the rest of the world. Having and adult in the white house who understands there is no free lunch and that actions have consequences is going to make a huge difference over these infantile pretenders we've had.

There isn't any person more important than the President in terms of spending and deficits.
