My aunt will be applying for a tourist visa in order to attend my graduaton.Should I submit a letter of invitation requesting her presence at my graduation as proof in order to help her chances of getting the tourist visa? She is married, has 2 small children and owns a house.

You can submit an invitation letter. It may or may not help. The denial or approval of the visa lies on the economic, social, and relationship ties shown by your aunt that will convince the CO that she will indeed go back to her home country. God bless!

an invitation letter has no real positive bearing on the outcome of a tourist visa application....the VOs don't really care WHY somebody is going to the US...they only care about WHY the applicant would return and/or not engage in unathorized employment....and an invitation letter does nothing to allay these concerns.

OP, Noah is exacly right. I have been in person to 2 embassys abroad and ask in person about the "invitation letter".

BOTH told me, it has ZERO bearing on the b-2 visa descion. Your Aunt must apply, and hopefully be approved, on her own merits. what country is she in?

An invitation letter will only help, it wont hurt. It for sure helped in my situation!

Of course the whole process is basically a lottery anyways.

Good luck!!

Oh wow! If its ok can you tell me a little bit about your process? How was she able to get it for 6 months?
