School girl comes under acid attack, receives severe burn injury

Jhenidah, Jan 09 (UNB) - A school girl received severe burn injury as identified attackers threw acid on her at Bhagaban Nagar village in Shailakupa upazila on Sunday night.

The victim is Aapy, 15, student of a local school and daughter of Laltu Mandal of the village. She is also the second wife co-villager Ershad.

Police and family sources said, Aapy was married off with neighbour Ershad who stays at his home with his first wife.

Aapy was lying with her elder sister in a bedroom of her father`s home at night.

All on a sudden a gang of 3 attackers, including Ershad`s first wife Laily and Laily`s sister-in-law (jaa) Joytsna stomred into Laltu Mandal`s house and threw acid on Aapy, leaving her injured.

Hospital sources said her chest, throat and backside were completely burnt.

She was rushed to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital which referred her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

If this young wife was 1/2 as hard as the girl in Oklahoma this wouldn't have happened.

Of course, a shotgun wouldn't have hurt either.
