WHOAAAAAAAAAAA, wait a minute, they are denying access for Americans into their own EMBASSY????

That is leading the lamb to the slaughter without the American spouse......... Im sorry but it is the truth, that is the rudest embassy I ever had to deal with, getting our Permission to marry letter was a event alone, first thing out of the guys month behind his window when we asked for the form , he said to my husband, This wont get you a Visa" God's nightgown, I jumped back at him and said "Who in the hell mentioned a visa", and to my surprise he shut the hell up.....

I hope this new turn of events will be reversed at time of our interview........

Its leading a lamb to the slaughter right now...........

Like I said before, one of the things I noticed was a horrible attitude towards non-USC at that embassy. I wrote it on my review. They were rude even with you being there, wow! This is exactly my suspicion. The applications for visas nearly doubled, not only for the US but for UK and Europe, since the rise of Muslim Brotherhood. Unfortunately people are trying to fly out of Egypt (no pun intended). So, I'm with you on this; they will put everyone under scrutiny since, naturally, fraud is expected to fly off-the-charts. So sad, however, that good people with genuine intentions may suffer.

I really do wish everyone good luck in their interviews. Prepare you spouse/ partner. Go into skype and practice, even ask them to show you what will they wear. That's my honest advice.

Don't ever do anything you're not willing to explain the paramedics.

Wow. I really believe this is not even legal, frankly. What if she is an Egypt resident with an emergency? This worries me for all of you, only because I witnessed so many people being denied in the 5 hours I sat in that room. We were soooooo nervous because I heard so many times "let me give you your passport back, blah blah blah..."

Im going home in March to see my husband and family for holiday, BUT I will be there for him with interview.

In March we will already start going over all with him. We wont have a interview probley till late summer/early Fall so plenty of time. But I know I will give him my passport to show them Im here and waiting outside, and I will write a letter stating Im here waiting outside, and will answer any questions, blah blah blah.

Our case is strong, we had it all, pics of us, and his family, happy , emontional pics, statements, joint savings account in Egypt, Life insurance on each other, all we could submit, but I admit, Im scared, and as I say, its leading the lamb to the slaughter......... Our relationship goes as far back as early 2010, evidence showing that, way before the revolution...........God help us all...........

I attended my wife's interview in Riyadh.....

I believe they are going to be like other consulates and the petitioner can no longer attend at all. I think they are being kind this week and allowing them inside but they will not bring them to interview window.

and maybe next week they will refuse them entry to embassy completely. Alot of other middle east africa embassy do not allow both inside. the wife waits at a cafe for 6 hours. It says limited space.

In october they had 450 interviews, in January they have 803 scheduled that i know of and probably more. There is no more room for you spouse and kids to hang out all day.

I think people should email them or call

•Due to space limitations, only applicants with scheduled appointments for visa interviews will be allowed inside the waiting rooms. American Citizen immigrant visa petitioners and all other non-applicants must remain outside.

i don't get it.

Cause Cairo has stated on their website that NO AMERICAN PETITIONERS allowed inside during beneficiaries interview.

CarolBasha had His interview today in EGYPT and American wife had to wait outside for 5 hours. She was not allowed inside the embassy at all.

They were approved with a month of AP.

Congrats!!

Wow I hate to hear that about the embassy. I understand the over crowding but you would think someone who is trying to get a visa through engagement/marriage could have their petitioner there.

I wonder how long before someone figures out they should put a coffee shop across from the embassy?? Major money maker there!!

I seem to remember when we went to inquire about the interview in person in 2009 that the area for the immigration interview was in a different building than the one that serviced Americans citizens. It may be the US embassy but they have different areas allotted for different things and it's not like we're allowed in all parts of it. I mean would you go into the U.S. Ambassadors office without an invitation? It may have been standard practice to allow spouses in the interview but it seems the majority of the time the spouses didn't attend anyways because of time, distance and financial constraints. For DCF though I've heard it goes a little different and they want the spouse there in the interview.

When I spent the summer in Egypt and we had to run errands to the Embassy we'd travel the underground in the morning for around 45 minutes and then wait at the McDonald's nearby until the Embassy opened because it had a wi-fi connection. There are tons of places right there to go to and keep yourself occupied. The stores for shopping, places for eating, cafes for sitting and drinking tea. It's in a really great location.

Just an update...

My husbands interview is today. It is 815 am Thursday morning in Egypt. And it is 1215am Thursday morning in Illinois.

My daughter and I are back from the embassy and it was 730. We showed up at 7 and there were 100 people in one line....they said we could not enter. Dang it. lol

I had wrote the embassy an email a few weeks ago to make sure my 13 year old daughter could enter with my husband and me. They wrote back yes she can attend the intervew with you.

So, he showed them the email, they took it in the back and returned with a sheet that stated the NEW RULE of no American Petitioners allowed with the beneficiary into the embassy. So we said thank you and walked 40 seconds back to our hotel (Shepheards Hotel) and now we will wait for him to return.

Gesh! I hate that new rule!!!, but I do understand it is some ways, always so croweded there, but the spouse SHOULD be able to attend, only the spouse, its too much and too crowed for kids, long waits. I hope all went well with interview .
