A 9mm would bounce of the bears skull..literally. Best way to get bear up here is wait for the public landfill to close, and then pull up after hours after cutting the lock on the gate. Half rack of beer, high powered rifle (.300 mag.) in my case, a large tarp, tie downs, battery powered sawzall, a winch or come-along and rigging. Usually you don't have to wait too long until they come loping along the landfill road looking for food. Then you just roll down your window and blast them. Works like a charm, and nobody but fish and game cares for the fact they are over populated here anyways.

Don't want to hunt them. Just thinking which of my fire arms to bring for a nice hike or something like that.star_smile.gif

Nothing less than a .44 mag or one of my favs, a 12 gauge with pistol grips and a sling. Make sure you don't have the plug in it and load it up with slugs. I picked up a S&W model 500 hog leg a few years back after the neighbor blasted a 8' brownie with one on his back porch. It's a total cannon but it has a barrel weight that runs the length of it so there's not much kick. A little heavy to be packing but not if it's your ####### on the line.

Iv'e shot a moose with my .44 mag years back (salt lick and homemade potato silencer ftw), and the first two rounds just bounced off it's head. I dumped two more in it's neck and shoulder and it finally went down. Split it with my neighbor and I still had meat left over 6 mos later.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

So my .45 Springfield semi, OD green M1911, 14 clip would be good enough for a Polar bear.good.gif
