Hi,

I am from UK and have a ten year green card and am planning to apply for US citizenship next year and will then petition to move my mother over from UK.

Does anyone have experience of this?

She will be 61, can she apply/pay for healthcare and will she be able to get a part time job?

Any info on this process would be great!

Thanks!!!

Tim

She can work like any other LPR. A part time job is not a problem.

Healthcare will be a problem. She will not qualify for Medicare until she pays into the system for 40 work quarters (at least 10 years). LPRs cannot qualify for Medicaid for the first 5 years as an LPR. Private insurance or insurance through work are her choices.
