The 2012 Focus is a great choice and for a small/fuel efficient car, it's one of the most powerful as well is a 160-HP engine. As other's have mentioned as well, the new Elantra is the same fuel efficiency and has a 148-HP engine. Though the Focus from what I hear has a lot better handling than the Elantra.

Personally, I think what Ford has done with the 2012 Focus is a step in the right direction. It looks modern, sleek, and doesn't feel like a cheap car. Definitely worth its price point. Try and find a used one though with a few miles on it. You can get one with less than 10k on it and pay about $2k less.

Good luck.

mitsubishi is for people who can't afford a honda.

Really good answer coming from a back up Mod like you. Do more research first before you can answer.Mitsubishi can get more expensive and been around long as Honda and Toyota the brand has less recalls than Honda and Toyota.

All joking aside, Mitsubishi engines are the typical japanese engines. Like being revved and solid as a rock, (although most of their engines are built to be running under compression rather than N/A) but the thing that I really do get let down by is the typical japanese interior build quality. It's a capable interior, but cheap, thin japanese plastics seem to reign true. Granted I've not seen a Mitsubishi interior in the last two years but I've really been put off by that.

the Galants don't look bad, but they look dated. That body style of car goes back a good 6-8 years now.

The eclipse is dead and gone after this year too.

Mitsubishi makes decent cars, but they've done little to try and keep up.

The Lancer is still a good car, but if you want the quality you need to shell out closer to $35k vs the standard $20 for the base models.

Yeah I have an NA lancer, its a bit plasticy inside. I'd like to get a ralliart in the future but they need to upgrade the interior.

I am also ignoring charles' comment.

Just wanted to get the thoughts of people who are knowledgeable on cars.. We are looking to get a car ASAP (Like this week) and we were looking at the 2012 Ford Focus. Does anyone have any feedback on this vehicle? Is FORD ok, or should we stick to a Japanese brand car like Honda or Toyota? Thanks everyone!!

I will go for Honda or Toyota any day.American cars do have resale value...OOOOPSSSSSS..
