ok here is my question if anybody been there before. i am applying for k1 visa and when my fiancee visited me we signed an Orfi contract of marriage thats not official marriage its just to be able to live together in one apartment and the embassy should about that kind of marriage if they live in egypt.so we always call each other husband and wife. would that be considered mispresentation at the interview or its ok?

it wasnt stamped by the government or anything but it was made by a lawyer but it wasnt certified or anything.

You need to get it stamped and apply for a CR-1 visa. This will be a misrepresentation and you could denied, not to mention, your partner could get banned. People have been denied for less than this. Recently, a guy was denied because he showed pictures of his blessing in a mosque. They thought it was a wedding. BLess his heart!

They will do AP on him- background check and name check. They will fingerprint him. They more than likely, will find out about the orfi marriage. My recommendation is to either get the contract validated or to be very careful with all the proof you will be submitting. If anything says "husband" or "wife", pictures of your engagement, etc., eliminate that from the package.

If anyone else has a better idea, or I'm totally wrong, please correct me and help our newfound-friend.

well they already that we had this contract as we provided info in the petition from the beginning. so more likely they should have not approved the petition from the beginning before they forward it to the embassy.

I just did a search on here for orfi contracts denied...and it showed one couple that submitted it and their K1 was approved so maybe it is nothing to worry about. You were honest about the orfi and that is what counts. and to be legal in the US I think it has to be sealed or stamped.

From my understanding Orfi marriage is not a valid, or legal marriage based on any legal system. It's hard to say if they will say anything to you about it at the interview or how much it will really effect you guys. I think it really depends on who you get that will be doing the interview. Basically, you in order for both of you to stay anywhere together in Egypt you needed to get it done. Which they should understand.
