Yes I agree. We tend to find and cut and stack it before winter when we need it. Maybe all this money I keep hearing they have they just burn it.blink.gif

I know I saw trees up there when I was up that way.

And I know I saw ocean when I was in Galveston. So why don't people in Amarillo enjoy ocean front lots? After all, Texas is not nearly as large a state as Alaska! :bonk:

There are zero tree's in Nome. I know, I worked up there. There is no place on earth that I know of that's that high up and has trees. There's brush up there.. but the only wood that's worth burning is drift wood on the beach, which is covered up by sea ice that's maybe 8'-12' thick or more.

http://www.tsuru-bird.net/nome/index.html <---- there's several pics of Nome on that link, and the green you see on there is tundra brush, which might burn but it wouldn't last long. The branches are as skinny as your little finger at it's widest point.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Your post brings up an interesting bit of trivia I am sure you know but that is unknown to most Americans having to do with igloo construction! For everyone else, what is that bit of trivia? Clue: it involves the Mackenzie River in Canada!

The Gulf of Mexico is more appropriately referred to as 'ocean' than the grass and shrubs around Nome referred to as 'trees'!

A gulf is a far cry from an ocean.

I give. I know McKenzie County, North Dakota was named after a corrupt Senator McKenzie that helped to found Nome, but I don' know the tie in with the McKenzie River in BC and igloos.
