Oh really? that sounds great! are those proxy marriages really valid around the states when you do that in Colorado? how does it look like? you just sign the papers in your own time and bring them back to the license office?

When it comes to a place, we've actually been to Taos Ski Valley for New Year's Eve, it was amazing!!!... I bet Colorado is much nicer... we both love mountains so that would suit us perfectly!

Marriage is valid everywhere. We live in Houston and go to Denver quite often at the drop of a hat. You actually marry in person and the main difference is that you do it yourself, with your own vows and words; then sign the license on your own time and get it to the license office; they will then record it and mail it wherever you want. Your passport is enough id to get license. Witnesses signing are optional, but we did that just in case and to avoid any questioning from USCIS later. Neither has to be a resident and the license is valid to marry anywhere in Colorado, even if it's at the top of one the 14-ners (Colorado has 50+ mountains over 14thousand feet if you like mountains). We did vows in Polish, Spanish and English.
