I submitted my application for AOS (I-130 and I-485). It got rejected because the fee amount was wrong. I added in the check amount the fee for the form I-131 (travel document) and I wasn't supposed to pay for it since I sent it together with I-485 form.

So I have to resend the whole packet again. Do I have to put the form fees all in 1 check? or I need separate checks for each fee?

Also, should I include a copy of the rejection letter in the packet before I send it?

Thanks!

I would just resend it with the two checks -1 for I-130 and the other for I-485. Read the instructions and make sure you do not write DHS on the checks, it should be Department of Homeland Securities.

They rejected it so i dont thonk that they entered any of your information in their system. They just returned your package to you. All the best.

Thank you for the answer. They send everything back because my check amount was incorrect. Do I just add the new checks and resend the same paperwork they sent me back or does this mean I have to reprint and complete everything again?

Thanks!

Send the packet back as is, just do a new check.

What visa are you AOSing from?

My AOS application got rejected because of incorrect amount of my check. I just got the packet back in the mail with the rejection letter. This letter does not specify if I have to send a whole new application with the new check or send everything as they sent it to me plus the check. Any help?

Thanks!

Just make new check with right total amount and send everything back. Please double check to make sure there is nothing to worry about. Good luck.

So send everything as is plus new checks? They put a white envelop in the back. Do I have to put it in that envelop?

Not sure about the envelope, but the same thing happened to me. Unless it is clearly marked I would simply follow the instructions in making out the right check amount for what you are submitting and include all of the paperwork in order including a photocopy of the form they sent you and put it on top so there is no delay in processing. Any doubts, just call the number on the paperwork, give the representative your case number, tell them what you are filing and ask them the exact fee. Also, I would suggest sending it back priority mail - its a quick turn around that way! Good luck!

Duplicate threads on the same topic have been merged together and the joined thread moved from AOS from a Family Based Visa to AOS from a Work, Student & Tourist Visa as the OP is adjusting from an F-1 status. It is not necessary to start more than one thread to ask for more information on the same situation, just continue the discussion in the thread already started.

You're making this more difficult than it is.. :) If you had a separate check for the I-131, and the two other amounts were correct, just take out the wrong check for the I-131 and send everything back as it was.

If you had combined all the amounts into one check, then remove the old check that was for the wrong amount, replace with new checks/check for the correct amount, and send the package back with the new checks for the right amount.
