Me being me, I like to know whats coming up and what I need to prepare for, basically so I can fill out forms and gather information on my terms, but I'm a little dubious about gathering information BEFORE a NOA2 has even arrived, especially as we are months away.

Given my past medical history, I also need to get a letter from my GP explaining that I'm not a risk to myself or others (Something I've seen others have done) and get a police check.

Part of me is saying "Well, these documents are valid for about a year anyway" in the case of the police report, but should I actually wait until the NOA2 is issued or even when I receive my checklist? Are the consulate going to baulk at dates on things that were requested as far back as March when they only sent the document request in May or June? (or even later)

Obviously I want to get ahead and minimise the hassle and effort but I also want to be reasonably smart about it!

Any and all advice appriciated

Here's a post I made about what's coming up. It's not really too soon, but could also wait until March/early April looking at your timeline. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/346402-noa2/page__view__findpost__p__5094964

Do the shots now, but skip the flu shot listed since the season will be over. Maybe the doctor could sign your photos for the police certificate at the same time if you don't have somebody else in mind. Have everything ready and you can post your forms back to London as soon as you hear from them that they have your case. That's better than wasting a month gathering things you could be doing in advance. They won't send a checklist or "packet". It's all on their website and you only get a letter saying use the website.
