Hey.

So the "honeymoon" period is over and my wife and I are beginning to file for her AOS. She has been here for 30 days now and her SSN hasn't arrived.

I have a couple questions:

1. When does the SSN arrive and if it hasn't arrived by some fault how do we rectify this and get her name changed?

2. If we file the AOS and we don't hear from them for two months (worst case considering processing times) will my wife get kicked out since her K-1 Expires?

A SSN for K-1 doesn't automatically arrive. You must go down to the office and apply for it. She should go to the SS Office and get her SSN right now.

Once you file for AOS she will begin a new period of authorized stay, and can stay in the US until the AOS is adjudicated. It will take longer than two months. Good luck.

she does not kicked out! don't worry, AOS can take some time to finish and she is legally present in the US and that is what matters most
