Rujby it looks like your wife did not send the French marriage certificate, she only sent the English translated original.

She has to re-send both the original French marriage certificate and the the translated version as well and thats it you should be back on track for an approval.

Good luck to you both.

Rujby this is the part of the letter that is most important, what is missing is......foreign language document , which is the French marriage certificate. They are saying your wife did not send it. So they want it so they can approve you.

The reason they say that the Foriegn language document was not sent, it is because they consider the copy that we sent is not legible. And the fact that it is not leglible, they consider it as not sent, you agree with that?

That would be the best thing to do imo, and make sure it's notorized and/or Apostilled. That way your covered.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

What is the difference between notorized copies and certified copies?

Greetings,

My wife just receive the notice about our RFE in the mail a short minutes ago. It was about our marriage certificate that they request a translation into english. What we do not understand is that we submitted the original version ( french ) and the translation into english of the marriage certificate and also a certification of the place that says they are competent to translate documentation into english and that our document is correct regarding the translation. Could you please help me understand what happened? i do not really see what else we can do

Did you/or your wife use the translation statement:

The translation must include a statement from the translator that he or she is competent to translate and that the translation is correct.

as the message says clearly that the copy of the marriage certificate was not legible in its orginal language, do you suggest i have my wife not only go to a place to make legible copy of the marriage certificate and also certified the copy?

After reading all of the above comments and suggestions, this is my suggestion:

Call them on the phone. Never be afraid to ask them directly! Many memebers here have great knowledge but merely all suggestions are only our opinions. When you call them, simply explain what has happened and ask them to clarify what exactly is the problem. Wether they need the original certificate or wether the copy sent was not legible... or whatever the reason may be they will tell you. Once you know the reason it was rejected fix the issue and return the proper documents as soon as you can to avoid more delays.

Good Luck and God Bless

When you resubmit make sure all copies are clear and legible, we used color copies. You can't fight them.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

The I-130 does not require a certified copy. Just a copy. In this case, I'd say as legible as you can make it. :)

first off from what i know you dont send the Original document you send a copy second make a cover letter when you send you documents again and tell them what you are sending.make sure you sending an actual marriage certificate copy and not something from the church. also if you can try going to your town hall and getting an official extrac, copy that then send it with a translation that matches the style and placing of the original document. dont bither figuring out why just resend the documents they request!! youll be fine!!

If its possible to go to get an official extract from the town hall do it. make sure that its legible of course. you dont need a certified copy of the extract just a legible one. only send copies of both the extract and the translation. Its worth the time to get an offical extract becasue it will be diffrent form the document you already sent and therfore less of a chance they will send you another RFE. dont use a fax machine to copy it lol cause they dont come out to good. if you get an offical extract it will be more acceptable good luck
