Greetings,

My wife just receive the notice about our RFE in the mail a short minutes ago. It was about our marriage certificate that they request a translation into english. What we do not understand is that we submitted the original version ( french ) and the translation into english of the marriage certificate and also a certification of the place that says they are competent to translate documentation into english and that our document is correct regarding the translation. Could you please help me understand what happened? i do not really see what else we can do

Well I am of the opinion if they asked for it you give it to them, even if its a repeat... goal is to get a 797 with APPROVED on it.

There is no right or wrong here, just pleasing the "gods" .

They return the documents to us with the orginal version ( french ) and the translated version into english and they are requesting the same info ( Marriage certificate translated version in english). I am confused, they give us until March 28th to return the evidence, i do not see what else to submit if it is not the same document

They returned the documents to you?

Yes they returned the same documents, the french version of the marriage certificate, the translated english and the certification of the place that translated the document. in the letter they are still requesting translation of the marriage certificate. This is confusing! my wife and i does not know what to do. that is why i am writing here. She is currently suffering and could not even stay on the phone with me because the baby inside of her is making her suffer a lot

Weird. Were the orginals copies you sent copies of a certified certificate? Its a bit of a head scratcher being they send your other documents back. All I can say is read everything over slowly see if any wording jumps out at you.

We sent original copies ( the copy of the mariage certificate ). My wife was reading it for me over the phone and that is what she told me. and she opened the package which contains the documents, she sees the marriage certificate copy ( french version ), the marriage certificate ( translated version ) and the certification of the place where the translation has been made

Very odd. Normally I'd say they just lost it, but that is obviously not the case here.

Is the translation laid out exactly like the French cert? Maybe they didn't realise one was a translation of the other?

Did you send a copy of the marriage certificate or did you send the original?? If you sent a copy thats the problem. You need to send in the original certificate.

Yes everything was correct, it is probably what happen has you just mention. but USCIS is used with haiti application and i see it odd for them not to recognize that the translated marriage certificate has the original version ( french ) in the package. i really do not know what to do. This simple thing have our case delayed, we were about to get the expedite for Officer MINA from the expedite section called my wife lastly and tell her to have her doctor sent a formal letter instead on a simple note.

Did you send a copy of the marriage certificate or did you send the original?? If you sent a copy thats the problem. You need to send in the original certificate.

Really, we sent the copy of the marriage certificate as VJ clearly says that on the USCIS step we need to send copies not the original

You don't need to send originals of anything unless the specifically ask for originals. But were the copies you sent of "certified" documents? You know with the cute seal/stamp from the goverment? Just trying to figure what they are wanting.

as the message says clearly that the copy of the marriage certificate was not legible in its orginal language, do you suggest i have my wife not only go to a place to make legible copy of the marriage certificate and also certified the copy?
