Hi, I would like to ask how we can open a checking account when the I-94 is expired and we haven't filed AOS. We are now married but we need to have things with both names. They said today at my bank my husband can't be added to my account due to the I-94 being expired...What to do now? Thanks in advance

We are in Fort Worth, Texas and I added her to both my checking and savings accounts at Wells Fargo using my wife's Passport, marriage license.

Her social security number was required but we had not yet updated the name on it.

Hi,

I work for a financial institution but it depends on ur bank..some local banks have some crazy requirements (if they don't want to open an account or if the banker feels unsafe about opening it). The normal for larger banks is 2 forms of id: primary id like passport and secondary like credit card, work ID, utility bill,...Also, he will need a social security card to set up an account but it can not be used as a proof of an id since he is not a minor. if he doesn't have a social then you can obtain a Tax Id number(TIN). you can get it online on irs website it take less then 10min or tax accountant can apply for it. So basically 2 forms are needed which passport is one social security to open it, plus another form of secondary id.

Try a credit union that only requires 1 ID and his SS#.

Don't ever do anything you're not willing to explain the paramedics.

I was trying to add him to my exsisting account. We took our marriage certificate, his international license, passport w/ visa inside and his SS card. The lady didn't know what to do so she called main office where she was told that he needed to have a new visa or new I-94. I told the lady you people know nothing about K1 visa's. I was very upset. Last night i was able to apply online at Bank of America, their check box included - non us citizen with a social security number. I filled out the full application ( jointly ) and at the end of the process it said I will be notified in 1 - 2 Days to know if it was approved. I found that weird too. We will be waiting to see what happens with that. Thanks so much :)

I received this message from Bank of America... Thank you for your recent application. We regret that we are unable to open your account(s) online at this time. Do you think if we go there in person they would accept it? I have never had any problem before getting an account and I've had 4 checking accounts in my lifetime all in good standing... Thanks
