Are you a citizen of the Philippines?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I still have the green Philippine passport. It's not expired yet. Can I still use it to travel to the Philippines?

you will have no problem going home but you might have some problems coming back, i suggest calling the airport of your POE coming back.

Sorry for the incomplete information. This question is actually for my sister. She has a 10-year green card but has not applied for US citizenship yet, so yes, she's still "fully" a Filipino citizen, not naturalized or on dual citizenship. Like I said her passport is still green and she's going to apply for the brown passport while in the Philippines, although it will still be in her married name because she has not reported her marriage. So I just wanted to make sure if the green passport is still valid for travel to PI as long as it's not expired.

If you return to the Philippines, you get special privileges as a balikbayan. All you need is a Philippines passport, even an expired one. Otherwise, you don't need a Philippines passport to travel if your are a USC. If you are a dual citizen, you can have both passports stamped, or travel under either one. You need the US passport to reenter the US.

In a few months, Chinook and I will be traveling outside of the U.S. Chinook will bring along her brown Philippines passport, her Green Card, and a certified copy of our marriage certificate. She's bringing along a certified copy of our marriage certificate because her passport is in her maiden name, while her Green Card is in her married name. She plans to bring along her driver license too.

An affidavit of One and the Same Person from the consulate in S.F. would help, if it is still available. I don't see it listed on the website any longer. You may have to call first. That's cheaper than registering the marriage and amending the passport. If you get there before noon, they might have it back to you the same day, if the consul shows up to sign it. It cost us $25.
