No need to use a notary. Notaries verify signatures not content.

According to a checklist by the HCMC embassy, they wanted the employment letter to be notarized.

That may be true at your embassy. I am responding to a post in a Thai portal. I hope the OP isnt confused by your info.

Whatever the case may be a notary only verifies signatures. It seems to me that your letter would have to be notarized by the author rather than yourself. Having said that there is nothing stranger than the working of things in Vietnam.

I've been doing the same for the past couple of days, trying to make sure that my fiance has everything in order. We have spent the last precious days of being together this X-Mas/New Years preparing forms etc to be absolutely sure we are not missing anything... I am pretty much convinced that we are ready to send the package but I hate the feeling of uncertainty and the question in my head: do we really have everything to avoid any delays? :)

We decided to send everything on 01.17.2012...

Good luck you guys!

My wife brought two paper bags full of all of those items listed ranging over a four year period. She had snippets from a few dozen IM conversations, about the same number of emails: I even mailed back to her cards that she had sent me that were post marked.

In the end the interviewer didn't look at any of it! The entire interview lasted about 10 minutes and I believe the decision had been made prior to then. However, I still encourage an abundance of evidence.
