My husband and I will be filing in a few months to remove conditions. He would like to spend Ramadan at home this year, as he will not have seen his family in 2 years by then. We will send in the application to remove conditions a couple of months before the trip but will USCIS need anything from us? For example, what do we do if biometrics are requested and he is not here? Also, what will he need to have in order to return since his green card will have expired by then and I don't think the new green card will be generated yet?

You need the NOA1, it serves as a 1 year extension on the green card. You should not leave the USA until the biometrics is completed.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

It can take a month or more. Cannot give an exact time because everyones is different.

Once you get the NOA-1 letter and then a biometrics appointment date you can try for an earlier date just by walking in unannounced.

I think most people have success with this. Especially if you tell them your story.

Congratulations to both of you. :wow:

First to answer your question: If he plans to travel and the biometrics letter comes, you can always Request For Rescheduling.

When you receive the NOA for Biometrics, it will give you instructions on how to reschedule. But my opinion is that you should always follow their schedule like Inky mentioned.

How long does it usually take for the biometrics appointment once the application has been filed?

We sent the I-751 on December 6th through express mail next day delivery and we received the NOA-1 Biometrics appointment letter at the end of December. This letter says that Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year. During the one-year extension you can travel or work. So, it took less than a month. But it all depends. Just mentioning our experience.

FYI

Letter for one year Extension of the GC comes first, then the NOA-1 Biometrics appointment letter.

November 16, 2009: Sign-in Failed!!
November 16, 2009: December interviews already scheduled. Operator told me to wait for a possible January interview date. Call back in the 2nd week of December
November 30, 2009: Been trying to call NVC but line busy since late after noon. Finally, got email appointment letter from NVC with the Interview date of January 19, 2010. Yeppe Alhamdulillah>
December 24, 2009: Medical Done and report recieved the same day.
January 11, 2010: Medical submitted at VFS. They asked for: Copy of Packet 3, Appointment letter, and Passport. They told her to take a copy of I-864 and the documents submitted with it, at the time of interview with other proof of relationship documents.
January 19, 2010: VISA APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 21, 2010: Visa recieved in mail (Package included passport with visa stamped, sealed big brown envelop to be submitted at POE immigration at the airport, and instructions to apply for SS Card)

USA
February 07, 2010: POE Chicago --> Very easy, within 45 minutes
March 02, 2010: SS Card recieved in mail. Welcome letter recieved in mail as well
March 13, 2010: GC Recieved in mail

January 29, 2015: N-400 Application submitted
