Hi I am a newbie here and just wanted to get an answer on an important question before i begin my AOS process. First a little background on myself. I am an F1 student who is pursuing a masters degree in California, I am happily married a month and a half to my wife who lives and works in New York. We would have started the necessary paperwork sooner but due to Grad school finals and the holiday season, we were unable to do so. However, this delay may have worked in our favor as I have since been told by close colleagues that the address that i should put on my I-485 should actually be my wives address in New York and not what i had originally put, which is my current address at graduate school here in California. My question is, is this piece of information that i was told true, should i be putting her address in New York as my address on the I-485 form?

Thanx.

If you use the new york address - your interview and biometrics will be done in new york.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I am a Citizen of the United States of America. 04/16/13

If grad school finals are just about over and you plan to move and live with your wife in NY soon, then use the NY address.

I still have 2 more semesters of school here in California. So does that complicate things??

Thanks again for the responses, i really appreciate the input.

The fact that you don't live together would be a red flag, yes, so be prepared to explain it and for it to be a difficulty. You should file with the address of the state you want to do biometrics and your interview; remember that both you and your wife have to attend the interview.
