His entire post was meant to be a bit of fun not the opening for a lecture. btw no one is ever gonna say an English fried breakfast is a healthy alternative. lol

What is in an Irish breakfast? I know some pubs in Boston say they have it but the idea of breakfast in a bar seems well, wierd.lol

In Ireland, as elsewhere, the exact constituents of a full breakfast vary, depending on geographical area, personal taste and cultural affiliation. Traditionally, the most common ingredients are bacon rashers, sausages, fried eggs, white pudding, black pudding, toast and sliced tomato.[4] Sauteed mushrooms and fried tomato are also sometimes included,[5] as well as baked beans, liver (although popularity has declined in recent years), and brown soda bread.[citation needed] A full Irish breakfast may be accompanied by a strong Irish breakfast tea such as Barry's Tea, Lyons Tea, or Bewley's breakfast blend served with milk. Fried potato bread potato farl, boxty or toast is often served as an alternative to brown soda bread.

I've been to Ireland and England several times and I've rarely had bad food.

Here's how I know it's healthier food, too. The first thing I wanted the last time we got back to the US was a Big Mac. Disgusting I know. My body had been deprived of US gunk and I wanted it real bad. I swear it never tasted so good. Of course now that it's one of my daily choices I'd nearly rather starve than have it.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

I find common food in America to be quite awful. Of course you can go to some gourmet stores, and it's much easier to find certain specialty/weird foods in the US than in most other places, but the average American... eats awfully.

I got SOOO skinny and gorgeous here in Moscow. Went to visit my folks for two weeks; gained 7 pounds. I think it's more so the sedentary lifestyle we have in America.

Define 'Decent breakfast'.....

'Cause if it includes; pancakes (drenched in syrup to hide their rankness), 'bacon' (fatty, stringy, shite), and scrambled (destroyed) eggs, that one can get in I-Hop... then your definition of a 'decent breakfast' is warped.

Also, Iced coffee... I disagree with it.

Aside from during my pregnancy, I didn't gain weight in the US. I, as most people, definitely can't say the food was sooo good. Thankfully, I'm the one who cooks so I could make sure I bought quality incredients and we usually only ate out at Sushi bars and our favorite Chinese place in CA. However, now that we've been back in Germany for a year, I've gained WAY too much weight already... enjoying all the good stuff I had missed in the States, lol.

05/2007 - got married in Germany

05/2007 - filed I-130 via DCF in Frankfurt

08/2007 - interview to prove bona fide marriage

09/2007 - hubby PCSed to GA

10/2007 - hubby deployed to Iraq

04/2008 - hubby on RnR in Germany

08/2008 - received CR-1 visa

12/2008 - flew to GA alone to welcome home the hubs

09/2009 - PCSed to CA

03/2010 - we're pregnant!

06/2010 - applied for German "BBG" to retain German citizenship during naturalization

08/2010 - BBG granted

09/2010 - filed ROC

12/2010 - received 10 year GC

12/2010 - our little miracle is born!!!

01/2011 - PCSed to Germany

01/2012 - filed N-400 for overseas naturalization

I think if i ever get to visit Australia again i'll gain wait, i'm already making a list of all of the things that i miss and want to eat. I will probably just spend my whole trip eating, lol. Like fish and chips. Proper fish and chips...with gravy. I'm scared to eat fish in Arizona because, well there's no sea here so there's no way in hell that they have any decent fresh fish. And i'm not a fan of river fish. And when i say chips i mean proper chips, like british chips, not fries.

When my gf from Australia visited she bought me food including CHICKEN SALT!! OMG love love love :D I miss flake :( I miss fried dim sims with soy and tomato sauce (odd I know). Souvlaki too.. I had a gyro a while back and it wasn't too bad, least the tzatziki tasted the same :P

**Edit - I gained about 2kgs while home. I couldn't get enough of real cream (I've done the whipping cream here and it's NOT the same), white bread (even just homebrand) and regular donuts (not cake donuts, good cinnamon ones)! I loved having a white bread and cheese sandwich. YUM!

Oh man, i totally forgot about chicken salt! i don't know how considering i used to drench my chips in it, lol. dim sims with soy and tomato sauce? that actually sounds pretty good. i haven't tried cream here yet, well, i've tried the one that comes already whipped but i don't think that counts, it tastes disgusting. I've always whipped my own cream and added icing sugar and vanilla essence to it (soooo Goooood!) anything else just tastes #######. I ordered ice cream from somewhere the other day and it came with cream on it, made me feel so sick :/

I'm from the west coast where people thrive on Healthy lifestyles, and since being here for a few months, I think I've gained almost 10lbs!!! boo!! I need to get out more.... my husband is a great cook, but makes very rich meals and sometimes feels offended if I don't want to eat them! I have no income yet, but I'm dreaming of when I can eat fruit and oatmeal every morning and make my own meals more often :)

Haha, this is a great question. Has anyone gone to America and NOT gained weight!?!

I would disagree with the food being 'too good' though. I personally don't think the food is of a great standard. In fact, if anything, it's poor quality! Especially the meat.

Portion sizes are the problem. No need for anybody to eat a 20 oz. steak! Also, steaks in the EU and in most other places don't some that size. The reason being the growth hormones that are fed to cattle and poultry in the US.

Growth Hormones are banned in the EU and nearly everywhere else in the world.

Food is much cheaper in America, too. Again, down to the low grade of the food I would think.

http://www.bsas.org.uk/about_the_bsas/issue_papers/hormone_growth_promoters_in_cattle/

I think I gained more weight, or at lest ate much more, when I was in Moscow - Food there is so inexpensive, and most of it is fatty (because of the winter months).

We cannot expect to just be able to eat whatever is put in front of us, or whatever we can afford, and think that the region is the only thing that influences whether or not we gain weight.

People should at least educate themselves on nutrition so that they can make the conscious decision about what to eat in order to achieve their expected results. Furthermore, self-discipline/control needs to be attained so that the urges are not given into.

Is everyone having the same problem as me eating way too much? The food here is just too good and the portion sizes are enough to feed a whole family. On top of that my wife makes some really delicious meals and the best apple pie in America.

I've managed to put on 40lbs in less than 2 years! :crying:

My husband is slim and fit.. he's gained 4 lbs of muscle but he thinks he's fat. So he has decided to loose it and stay smaller... :( He is so fine.. Why Why.... SMH :)
