Which countries can Indian citizens travel visa-free or obtain a visa on arrival?

Finally there's a regional forum for India. Fantastic!

I'm hoping someone can enlighten me on this. I would like to know a comprehensive list of all countries that Indian citizens can travel to, either without a visa or obtain a visa upon arrival.

I've searched for a list before but have gotten mixed answers. On some lists I've seen Jamaica as being a country which allows Indians visa-free but on others I have not seen Jamaica listed at all. This goes the same for Costa Rica and Bermuda.

I'm particularly interested in countries in Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Europe (if any). I'm hoping once our Cr-1 is being processed, K and I might be able to take some long weekends to see each other in a third country so I don't eat up all my vacation time. Meeting halfway would be ideal.

Any informed Indian nationals or others know about this?

Thanks!

I am the petitioner.

Once she has her CR1 means she has her GC it changes.

Lot of countries treat the GC holder same as USC and hence no or visa upon arrival option is available even for Indian citizen.

For example a country A might require Visa for Indian citizen, but same country A might not require visa for Indian citizen with GC.

Although this is true of Canada (no visa needed for GC holder) but not UK/EU.

I am aware of the travel opportunities available to him once he is a permanent resident but I was actually more interested in places he can travel while we are waiting for our petition to process.

I think this is only true if visiting Canada and Mexico. A visa would still be required to visit other countries that an Indian citizen needs a tourist visa for even if they have a green card.

Most places mentioned by OP like Jamaica etc. do not need any special visa once you have GC.

All one needs is a passport and GC.

This is probably not new information but I know that Indian nationals sometimes need a transit visa when transiting through certain airports. I believe having a US greencard may trump some of the requirements. I am sorry I do not have a good link for general information on transit visas but I think it is something that you could easily find once you had an itinerary.

Congrats on the new regional forum!

As far as http://www.jamaicacgmiami.org/visapolicy.html is concerned, I believe Indians qualify under the "Commonwealth Citizens" section. My fiance and I have successfully visited Hong Kong together (visa free, but still have to convince immigration you can afford to be there (luckily I was standing next to her... ;-) ). Malaysia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka are also alternatives we know of. Several countries in the middle east also will allow visa free, but have this little hangup on non-married couples...

Enjoy,

Erik

Jamaica, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong are all visa on arrival. I guess Maldives and Mauritius too. Don't have much info on other countries though.

That does not solve OP's problem, she wants a centrally located region where she can meet him and would not have to fly all the way to India.

If she is flying to Sri Lanka / Hong Kong might just travel all the way to India itself.

Europe which would be centrally located for both of you - as far as I know all the countries require Indians to have visa, but he might be easily able to obtain tourist visa.

Nowdays its very easy for someone from India to obtain tourist visa, it is not what it used to be years back.
