I NEED HELP PLEASE! I am confused on when to submit the police certificate during the i130 process. Does my wife take it to the embassy with her during interview? Or do I have to mail it in to the NVC along with my DS-230?? Also, what is the process for obtaining these police certificates and submitting them to NVC? It says something about having to get fingerprinted at the embassy in Cairo??

PLEASE HELP!!

THANKS EVERYONE!

Hi,

My husband had to obtain a police certificate prior to the interview. it will need to be send out before the interview...I'm no sure what is the exact form but it's part of the biometric that (he/she) will need to file there and sign it, second part of it is the affidavite of support. So if i remember it correctly, we mailed it out at the same time, I did the affivadite of support w/ tax returns n w-2s and he mailed out the "form"-with his info plus the certificate. Also, you should be getting emails/notification from NVC where it will tell you what documents are needed. You can also visit the NVC website and it will tell you exactly what documents are needed. We recieved an email from them stating that he needs to send this"form", so they will contact you somehow. (it does slow down the process if something is missing). I would advise you to give the NVC a call and ask them about the documents and they will tell you.

The process is very simple, your wife needs to go to the local police office with her ID(where she is registerd) and just let them know she needs copies of her police record for the immigration purpose. They should know what kind of papers to give her. (I do not recall if my husband had to get fingerprinted at the police station?)

The fingerprinting is a very last step, once she is at the embassy waiting for an interview they will finger print her.

Hope this was helpful...

My husband's police certificate had his picture on it with a stamp over it and his fingerprints on one side of the certificate. Tell her to bring a passport style photo with her to get her police certificate.
