Hello All,

Filling out Part 1 of AOS (1-485)

Should i used already my married name or same name in my passport pls need help..i seen some sample here is this coreect?

If you will be changing your name to your husband's, then you need to file the paperwork with your married name. You need to put the name you want to appear on your green card. Changing the name on the green card later is costly.

Thank u, should we go to social security office before or after filing 1-485?

She would like to work and drive as soon as possible.

if you need the ssn right away for joint accounts in the bank or including your name in your husband's health insurance you need to get ssn. ssn without filing the aos first would appear in your single name. but you can change it later when your gc arrives. but...if you can wait and there's no need for ssn then perhaps you can wait for the gc to arrives before going to the social security office. it is really up to you.

You can do either ways. If you use your married name, you will need to file for ammendment of passport from philippine embassy during aos process or after receiving your gc.
