Veteran VJ'ers,

What happens if I cannot get the transcripts of my tax returns back from IRS before the date of the interview at the embassy?

I have the actual returns but not the transcripts yet.

I noticed a form in the package that gives them authority to get my tax transcripts from IRS, will the embassy just send for them direct?

Thanks for the help

Rob and Melinda

Your actual returns will work fine, bring the origionals and make copies to give to the officer at the consulate if they request to keep them.

I too am preparing the Affidavit of support and called the IRS Tuesday afternoon and requested them, the operator was nice and printed them out and said that they would be in the mail next day which for me I suspect I will see them Friday or Saturday. The transcripts are free, and can arrive 7-10 days later. http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq1-6.html

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Make copies of your originals. Tax transcripts normally arrive in about 2 weeks. I ordered them for my Financial documentation that Fernanda will need to provide in her Interview. I don't think the Consulate is going to request them for you! They leave that to you, the Petitioner.

The form gives them permission to view your IRS information. You need to sign that one. Your original tax forms are ok of course, why wouldn't they be? The W-2's and/or 1099's are the important thing to have at the interview along with the updated affidavit of support.

What's all this talk about the IRS transcript? I didn't see this listed in the K1 packet I downloaded off the manila embassy website. Does the actual packet that will be mailed to Jenalyn require something different?

Tax transcript is equivalent to the actual tax form. You may use one or the other. Some people may have misplaced the tax form for example so you may order a tax transcript which is basically a summary of your return. They come rather quickly as I have ordered them twice.

Rob and Melinda,

Either should be acceptable - the tax transcripts from the IRS or a copy of the tax return you sent to the IRS. The complete return.
