Hi, I Will Need A Co-Sponsor For My Affidavit Of Support. Do we each Need BOTH forms (the I-134 and the I-864) or just one? How do I know Which one to fill out? Please explain the difference between the two forms and their purpose. Thank you in advance

Both the USC and the co-sponsor need to fill out the I-134 form and provide the supporting documentation. I don't know the difference but you don't need I-864 for your K1 interview. Just make sure the co-sponsor has enough income, though.

I read the I-864 is needed only when you're adjusting your status not during the k1 process. May I ask what the USC is?

The I-134 is used for the K-1 interview. The I-864 will be used later when the immigrant files for adjustment of status after they are in the US and married. The I-864 is a binding contract between the sponsor and the US government. The I-134 is not binding and is basically used as a 'cover letter' for organizing the financial info you are providing documentation of.

You each need to fill out an I-134 and provide a letter from employer stating position and salary, the most recent year's tax transcript or copy of your return with all the schedules, attachments and W-2's and/or 1099s, plus a few months worth of the most recent pay stubs. The co-sponsor will also need proof of being a USC (US citizen) or LPR (legal permanent resident) by providing a copy of their birth certificate, naturalization, bio page of their passport or front and back of their green card.

Sorry to be using your post to ask my question. I'm recently unemployed because I'm 6 months pregnant, but I have a co-sponsor which is my sister. Would I need to fill out a I-134 also? Thanks in advance

Yes, as the petitioner you are the primary sponsor even if you make nothing.

Will I be needing to write a letter or state it on my sister's I-134 that she's a co-sponsor? thanks again!

No. The forms and documents will be together and they will just know. They will see you did not make enough and look to your sister's documents to see if she makes enough to cover her own household plus your fiance.
