Ok, I am sure this has been covered somewhere but just in case I cannot find it.

I am putting together my I-129F petition and was wondering about the documents needed from my fiancee such as the G-325a and Intent to Marry.....Can she complete those, sign them, and scan them to email to me or do I need to have the original with original signatures for the petition?

Also for documents that need to be translated such as birth certificate, and divorce decree do they need to be notarized or apostille certified for the I-129F petition??

Thanks all for your help!

Chris

The forms should all be original and on her original signature. They don't accept scanned copy of signature.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

All of the required USCIS forms have to be original and signed.

Divorce decrees and Birth certificate (yours) need to be certified copies.

The rest of the documents are a bit murkier, and it depends on the country and type of document

Thanks all for the input. I guess I was a bit unsure because someone had told me they had submitted scanned copies from their fiancee and had no problems. Additionally in the guides for the K-1 the cover letter example has the following statement at the bottom:

"Copies of documents submitted are exact photocopies of unaltered documents and I understand that I may be required to submit original documents to an Immigration or Consular officer at a later date."

So maybe this other person got lucky and I think I wont chance it and I will send originals. :)

I am still unsure about if her birth cert and divorce papers need to be notarized or apostilled.

Thanks!

Chris

That portion of the letter refers to copies of evidence and stuff. For instance, copies of ticket stubs, passport stamps etc. Forms must be original. Anything she or you sign must be original.

Yes that person got lucky.

Anything she or you sign must be original.

Thats only true for the USCIS forms (As I previously stated). These are the only signed original forms that need to be included in the Petition, copies can be submitted for the rest including other documents that may be signed.

The letter from the bank and employer for the i-134 must be originals. The letters of intent must be original. Anything signed by the OP or their fiance/e must be original signatures.

Ok, we are both right.... One at a time

I-134 Not submitted with the petitioner's package

Letter of Intent:: Per instructions of the 129F Page 5 para B an original statement must be submitted for the {P) and (B), although no mention is made of signature(s). I whiffed on this one, my apologies

Anything Else: Since no other signed documents other than those required by USCIS (129F, G-325) and perhaps the "original statements" which are vague as described , all other documents can be submitted as copies (not originals) per the same instructions.

So to the OP: Yes you will need an ORIGINAL SIGNED G-325A from your Fiancé, along with a statement of "Intent to Marry" (Examples can be found on this website, or PM and I can provide a copy), and finally the completed 129F and supporting documentation.

Depending on the Country of Origin of your fiancé, it may be wise to include other information beyond what is required, I encourage you to seek advice from those that have filed in that particular country for more accurate info.

Thanks all for your input... Yes, I have been using the guide and have d/l the examples.....All of which are very helpful including you all here in the forums.

The country we are going through is Moldova and the Embassy is in Chisinau. Unfortunately there are not a lot of people going through the process from there so it is difficult to find people with recent personal experience. The one I met have met has been helpful but is the one who suggested I use scanned copies.....But it's clear that I will use all originals to avoid any delays.

Chris:

Here are the list of Moldova VJ members: http://www.visajourney.com/portals/memberlist.php?country=Moldova

They may not all be active on the forums, but may respond to PM's if you have a pressing need. Usually the members who are currently active appear at the top of the member list. Hope that helps !

Good Luck
