Hi, we are sorting all the forms and paperwork for my adjustment of status after coming in on a KI Visa. My husband is a US citizen and I'm from the UK. Form I-485 requires a marriage certificate, which we have, however I noticed as I was photocopying it that the people in the wedding office put both me and my husband from the same place. Example "John Doe of Bismarck, ND & Jane Doe of Bismarck, ND"

Shouldn't it have said "John Doe of Bismarck, ND & Jane Doe of Bucks, UK" or something showing I come from abroad? I'm worried it looks like I come from the USA. I live here now and have since I came over on my K1 visa. Is this a marriage certificate error? Will it be a problem? Will they still accept it? Perhaps the licence was based on the fact that my address is my husbands us address when I came on the visa? What's other peoples certificates like? Thank you

Ours had the same city too since we filed the I-129F and she was living with me when we were married. This is the NEW residence, which if why you got your visa. The certificate is correct. It goes by your residence not your birth place. Had us worried at the start too. :-)

Thank you so much, that really helps and puts us at ease.

It takes so long when calling the USCIS and then sometimes they aren't even allowed to ansewr certain questions and we can't afford legal help or those people who put the forms together. We did for the i-129f but the AOS costs so much more. :)

No, they list your current address, which should be the same as his since you two did get married.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Yep, same thing happened with us. I checked with the county clerk, and they gave the same answer: current place of residence.

Don't worry, our marriage certificate has our then-current U.S. address when we got married too :) complete with street address! I didn't even think twice when we filled out the marriage license form because I came to the U.S. in the last week of June 2009 and we got married in the last week of August - I had been in the U.S. for 2 months and was already getting used to calling our house, home :)
