hey it happens. dont beat yourself up over this.

LOL

I am expecting all of you to call me a dim wit LOL

I have been checking my status on the USCIS website and it has always said, 'YOUR CASE HAS NOT BEEN FOUND'. This disturbed me as I filed in Jun 2011.

Anyway, after my conversation with the straight talking USCIS lady today, she told me that I was using the wrong reference number to look it up..

She told me, and this is where I believe she thought I was as thick as doggy doo, 'you must use the APPLICATION NUMBER that is on your ASC BIO appointment letter, not the RECEIPT NUMBER on Receipt Notice...

Sure enough, she was right...... LOL

As I said, please don't laugh at me... ha ha ha

They're the same number. Have a look at the two of them. The application number just removes the dashes, that's all.

Well thank you, because I did exactly the same thing so now I have just checked my case status using the correct number. Actually I think I made a major error when filling out the form at biometrics, it said "application receipt number#" and I wrote the number that was on my NOA1 and I think I should have put the other number on? Does anyone know and if that is wrong will that screw things up?

No because they should be the same number. They are for me anyway. The dashes are removed on the Bio letter, that's the only difference.

My biometrics case number is VERY different from my NOA 1 number. They do not match at all in any way.

Is that from your ROC or your AOS? My AOS stuff is from 2009 and they're identical numbers.

From ROC - this is in the ROC forum and everyone in this topic is asking / talking about ROC and trying to check the case status of it.

Yes I'm aware of that but why would the Receipt/Applications numbers be different for ROC when they aren't for AOS? It makes no sense.

They are completely different numbers. We did the same as the OP. I panicked until we got the Biometrics letter and it has the number you can use to check your progress.

So Inky said. It's still very strange and I read online that it's an error with their system. It's incredibly odd seeing they tell you the NOA1 number is the number you enter online to track it. Thank you for the info though. I will tell my fellow AOS'ers soon to be ROC'ers.

I don't know why its like that but on the bottom of the NOA 1 it says you cannot track the case until you have the ASC notice and do use the number on the ASC notice - which is why i told the OP to read the ROC letter - clearly stating to use the ASC number.

The NOA 1 states "Receipt Number "

The ASC states " Application Number "

Both 100% different from each other and cannot track any ROC with the NOA1 - it only shows up when using the ASC application number.

The letter we got clearly states which number to use and tells you it will be on the Biometrics letter. Our trouble was we tried to use the NOA number before we recieved the Biometrics letter.

It doesn't really make any difference though because we are still just waiting and from the looks of things we will be stuck at this stage for about 6 months. Oh well. It is not so hard to wait now that he is here.
