(i avoid the issue completely by not punctuating whenever possible. also, i thought it was iv'e. : p)

i find it hard to believe that anyone who has their GED can fail to see that there is a reasonable possibility that 400(ish) years of enslavement of a race of human beings still carries deep meaning for the descendants of those people.

How does slavery play into affect that the offspring of those people generations later find being on the government dole as an accepted lifestyle?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

How do African immigrants succeed? Not only have they had centuries of enslavement - they still have slavery today on that continent. It should not be forgotten, of course, but it doesn't prevent this generation and the next from being successful and productive.

To you both, I can point out white ccommunities, Asian communites, latino ommunities etc whom has the same issues. These issues are not just Black culture. These issues are economic issues.

This is what I find amusing, you and some others "at times" ... when it suites them, say Ahh, it's not about race"

Then you meet with the President to address to address concerns about -how the economy is touching blacks more than others and "what can be done" for blacks to address it.

Make up your mind folks, either we look at race or not.

Is there any reason this thread hasn't been reported and a few people been given a little time out?

We are having an adult discussion here. If you find it disturbing and/or not to your liking then don't participate. But don't pull your usual on here were you go off the hook reporting posters just for the fact you find this discussion not to your taste.

The difference is I believe in their ability, you don't. You say "they cannot because they are black" I say "they can because they are people" Who is racist? What would anyone have against education?

A lot of them are government employees, but business ownership is another significant factor in PG county.

So black people CAN get good jobs and have productive lives. As I suspected.

Gary. let me tell you a story, my granparents owned farmland (lots), the man wanted to buy it, but they said NO. So the white community was built around our farmland. So, when we went to shool, we were the only blacks in the school. But take note my great grand parents were Indian/white/Black. So, one day one of the children in the school said to me, "I know why you are black, beause God ran out of white paint" Now me being me, said to them no that's not correct You are white, because God ran out of Black paint. Well, as you can guess this didn't go over very well with this child's parent, but as my grandmother said who's to say whom God created first. God created us all from his own image. Gary, I have been discrimatined against all of my life in all things, education, job, housing, seat on a bus or plane. So Gary you want to know how we got to this point in life, we stop allowing others to make us belive that we were 2nd class citizens. We stood up for our rights, and that right is to be treated equally.

Government employees with a college education.

Great, seems we agree. College and hard work, refusing to be told you "can't"

Now what we need is a PROGRAM to promote what we already know to be true...education results in good things. Lets require it!

For each person that comes and says "I need help" lets REALLY help them. Lets feed them for today and give them an education so they can feed themselves and their children tomorrow. Lets work to make them independent and strong so they cannot and will not be discriminated against. Lets make it so their goals are to have a home in a neighborhood like yours, lets make their dreams realistic!

We cannot sit on our thumbs and wait for the effects of 400 years of slavery to go away, lets eradicate it! Burn it out with flamethrowers! Educate people so they can get themselves out of this mess.

Just to stir the pot a little,

What do you say to those who are going in debt to pay for their education all the while your tax funded program is awarding a free education to the very people who didn't bother to stay in school and were too often a distraction when they were there?

Is this another case of -Those who do the right thing ended up getting the shaft in Gov't ongoing effort to be the GREAT ENABLER?

I'm not a college graduate and it didn't hold me back. H*ll, I didn't even graduate from high school...I got my GED and went straight to basic training. This country has too many college libs as it is.
