In the last 2 months I traveled to Italy twice with an I-485 pending, it has been pending for long, they asked me for co sponsor and I had to file the i-864 again.

When I first returned usa with combo card i-512 and advance parole, I landed to NY JFK, I did the line with visitors and when it was my turn the border officer told me to fill up an i-94 paper then took me to a room with 4 desks and seats with more immigrants waiting. After an hour or so they call me to the desk, they ask me how long for I was gone and why, then they asked me where I was going, after that they printed a "PAROLED" visa on my passport and gave me a paper with same visa printed (the i-94) and told me to keep it with passport and combo card.

After that I visited Mexico for one day, when I went to the USA border the officer just checked my combo card and the i-94.

Then I went back to Italy again and after 3 weeks I came back to usa again landed at NY JFK, they took me again to the office and they saw the i94 they released 2 months earlier, this time there was no line so the whole thing took like 5 minutes, they asked the same questions, they corrected the date on the old i94 and printed a new PAROLED visa on my passport, they said "welcome back to usa" the parole visa they print on the passport and on the i94 stands long an year from when they print it regardeles the combo card expiration but it means nothing, when you pas the border they ask for the combo card (512 advance parole).

I went to get my bags and custom inspection and was told there I have to follow the signs to B, again nothing about further inspection, just 'follow the signs to 'B'.

In JFK the customs agents don't even look at your passport or anything, they just take the customs form, look at it for half a second to see that something is written on it, and tell you to go on, so I assume if the passport control guy wouldn't send you to secondary in JFK, the customs won't notice anything.

I recently returned from London after a short visit with my two K2 children with AP, the POE was Austin.

We were processed as normal by a CO and then sent to secondary processing where we had to wait for the same guy to come off the booth and finish doing the second part of our paperwork. The duplicate sheet of the kids AP paperwork was stamped and retained for our USCIS file. My combo EAD/AP card has a combo of my former surname and new husbands name so I didn't bother carrying a marriage certificate, nor was it asked for. (My airline ticket was issued with the name in my passport, which has not been updated yet)

It was all very straightforward and I hope will be a little speedier when we return after doing a trip back to London in Jul-Aug again.
