Green departure record for VWP

I just read about it, and now I'm freaking out (I'm the freaking out type) : what the hell is that?

I wasn't given any green document to give back when leaving last time I visited with VWP, I'm positive about it!

That was in October. I was only handed my passport back with a stamp in it at entry, and I did not have to go through border check when leaving. I even asked an airport staff if I shouldn't get an exit stamp in my passport cause I didn't remember how it worked, and they told me no.

Now I'm reading that if you forgot to return the departure record you're in trouble??

Can someone tell me what this is all about?

People who entered on VWP used to get a I-94W, which was a arrival/departure record in green color especially for the VWP. Now the VWP has gone electronic (VWP-country passports have more microchips in them, etc) and the passports are swiped. The US doesn't give departure stamps.

I suggest not to read old topics about outmoded immigration policies and get paranoid :) Good luck.

AOS for my husband

Thank you! Your suggestion is very good indeed

I found that information on a US consulate website though, so I didn't even think it could be outdated.

Laurie, from June 2010 VWP travellers do not have to fill out anymore the "green" arrival and departure record (I-94). Before entering with the visa last September I made 3 trips without having to fill out that form so..don't worry :)

I travelled on the VWP in January last year and i worried about it when i got back to home too because i didn't get an exit stamp or anything either ( I also read on a government website that i was supposed to have done this, guess they need to update their websites huh? lol). Anyway, you don't need the exit stamp and it didn't cause any problems with my K-1 or future entry into the united states.

Finally time for AOS.......

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

03/14/12 Received Green card in mail.....

....no more USCIS until December 2013

Thanks for your answers everyone :star:

Going through this immigration process is driving me insane through worrying too much :bonk:

But yeah, you'd expect an "official" source to update this type of information...

I'm assuming you filled out an ESTA form online before you left? This form is now mandatory for VWP travelers and has replaced the green arrival and departure record that visa waiver visitors used to fill out on the plane before arriving at the POE. No worries!

I think the info on their website could be due to the fact that visa travelers still need to fill out a white I-94, and surrender it when leaving. ESTA only replaced the green slip used for the VWP, not the white one for visa travelers.

I just got back from the USA on VWP a few days ago.

At the POE, the officer took my I-94 form and then he saw that I am on ESTA, so he said I don't need the I-94 and threw it in a trash can :hehe:

On the flight back, when I checked in United Airline, I was given a white slip from the airline saying something like

"the transport department requires the airline to record all passengers travel on international flight .. blah blah blah"

I filled that out with my name and my flight number and handed it over at SFO airport which I departed the USA.

I hope they know that I am not in the country anymore!
