Igor Volsky caught up with Rick Santorum campaigning in New Hampshire this morning, and he videotaped a doozy: Santorum coming as close as possible to proclaiming inequality to be a positive and constructive force, and insisting that efforts to combat it are un-American:

Santorum said, presumably speaking about Democrats:

They don’t believe in you. They’re trying to get rid of health savings accounts. Why? They don’t trust you, that you can provide for yourself. They don’t believe in you.

No, we have to have something for everybody! We can’t have people having access to better health insurance than other people. No! No, it all has to be the same! Is that American? Equality of result? Is that what built the greatest country in the history of the world? No. That’s what’s destroying most of the countries in the world.

Nowhere does the Santorum quote suggest that inequality makes us great. It suggests that equality of result does not make us great.

He will get the Democrat vote! All the people that want minimum wage and worker protections for white people, but not if the employer hires brown people. I can see how he would want to reach out to them

When Democrats talk about equality, what they really mean is all of us wearing dreary, gray shirts and pants like they do in Communist China. They all want us to wait in the bread line and get our rations. Well, ** that! This is AMERICA! Not some communist bullsh!t! If someone wants a healthcare plan that is as good as a CEO of corporation, let them climb to the top just everybody else! America is where king-of-the-mountain playground rules apply!
