Mariana had her I-129 Interview in COsta RIca yesterday and was approved!!!! SHe pics up her visa on Friday. Home on SAturday.

Extreamely easy!! Only an hour and a half. They asked for the usuall docs ds-156, ds 230, police certs. and birth certificate, Our marriage certificate and the I-134. (when we picked up our pakage 3 they told us we needed the I-864, we questioned them about the I-134 but they said no we needed the I-864, I filled out both not trusting their answer. We were right, we needed the I-134. Don't trust the embassy people, BRING EVERYTHING!!)

She handed them all the required paperwork and said OK you can pick up your visa on Friday. NO Further QUESTIONS, NO need for any proof. No "How did you meet?", nothing. My wife begged them to look at it (she had worked so hard to put it all together.) but they didn't want to see anything else. I think the fact that I have been living with her in COsta Rica since we werer maried pretty much covered all that.

Anyway we are so happy and relieved to be going home. I will post a review under the embassy section later.

Thanks, to everyone on VJ for all your advice and support. I would have gone crazy without this site.

Does anybody know what we do next once in th U.S. Our I130 has been approved but haven't heard anything further, do we file an AOS or what

Good Luck and God Bless,

Chris and Mariana

Congratz......enjoy your new life together. Can I ask you a question? Your wife is from Venezuela and you guys were living in Costa Rica....Did you get married in

Costa Rica? Did you guys have your interview in Costa Rica? The reason I ask is because I know someone who wants to avoid the long wait in DR and get married in Costa Rica or Mexico......would she get an interview in Costa Rica?

Yes, My wife is from Venezuela we met and were mariied in Costa Rica. Neither one of us has residency in Costa Rica, but according to USCIS your Visa should be processed in the COuntry in which you were legally married. COsta Rica embassy was great and fast. We received our interview date 1 week from when when we got our package in Costa Rica (we researched and thanks to this web site had all our docs ready befor the embassy received our package, the medical was done in 2 days). Seems like realatively very few K-3 visa are processed in COsta Rica. Good Luck

CONGRATS

what you do when you lovly couple return to the US is contact NVC and let them know your wife is now here on the K3 and that you want to do AOS here. Then you will file the AOS , someone will be along to help you further or correct me if wrong.

Again, Congrats

I do not wish to share any information about this dead end journey.........I have reached my final destination on this train, and it is time for me to get off.

"When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife." Deuteronomy 24:1-2

Congratulations Chris and Mariana and well done

Not surprising that you were given wrong information about the affidavit of support from the consulate when you enquired about it, as the giving of wrong or incomplete information seems to happen quite a bit. Glad it all worked out for you and that you had the correct affidavit of support on hand.

All the best to you both for your future.
