VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS FOR K VISA APPLICANTS

U.S. immigration law requires that ALL intending immigrants be vaccinated against certain vaccine-preventable diseases before they can be admitted to the United States for permanent residence. Vaccinations currently required are as follows:

Mumps

Measles

Rubella

Polio

Tetanus

Diphtheria

Pertussis

Haemophilus influenzae Type B

Rotavirus

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis B

Meningococcal disease

Varicella

Pneumococcal

Influenza

Any other vaccinations recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices.

***K-1 visa applicants, as nonimmigrant visa applicants, are technically not subject to the vaccination requirement. “K” visa applicants who refuse to comply with the vaccination requirement will not be denied a visa on that basis. As a matter of expediency, however, it is encouraged that “K” visa applicants meet the vaccination requirement before they are admitted into the U.S.

Bring Your Vaccination Records for the Panel Physician’s Review You should bring records to show that you have already received vaccinations against certain vaccine-preventable diseases. The panel physician will review the vaccination records and will determine if you meet the vaccination requirement. Only the panel physician can determine which vaccinations are medically appropriate. This could mean that you may be required to repeat doses of vaccines that you have already received. Administering a second dose, however, will not endanger your health.

If you want to wait untill your in the US. that is an option.

What we are saying is that is your choice. If you prefer, gives you peace of mind, and/or it saves money to have them done there, then by all means do it that way.

Go to one of the 4 hospitals listed in Thailand.

2 in Chiang Mai:

McCormick

I guess Chiang Mai Ram isn't an option any longer

2 in Bangkok

Bumrungrad.. be prepared to spend money there.

BNH cheaper.

The key phrase is: Only a physician can determine which of the listed vaccinations are medically appropriate for you, given your age, medical history and current medical condition.

They charge close to the same for the medical, but the vaccine charges can be much different. They know what it's all about. Just have her go there and explain the deal.

As been said above, you don't need to have vaccinations at this stage but it will save you future headache and money if you completed your vaccinations in you home country.

if you go down this link, you will see a chart explaining which vaccines are needed according to age

http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/panel/vaccination-panel-technical-instructions.html

for example i am 29yr old so i only needed to have tdp, MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) and influenza. I had chickenpox so they just marked VH for varicella and every other vaccines is mark as " not age appropriate". When you will go for your medical, you should take any vaccination record with you. they will give a copy of form DS-3025. Note that if your vaccination requirement is complete then you just need to submit a copy of DS-3025 for AOS which will be your next step after when you enter USA. You don't need to submit i-693 form for AOS.

i-693 is really a headache as civil surgeon need to sign it and sealed in an envelope. They can charge you anything they like. and they can ask you to do the medical again with them meaning another $250-$300.

tdap, influenza are just one shot but MMR is two shot series. 2nd shot is after 4 weeks.

you can take those shots from anywhere but you need to take that proof with you when you go for your medical exam. if you complete on or before your medical exam then don't need any further vaccination or i-693 form

Can't remember which one, but you should know that if it's required there's 3 shots involved and they are administered over I think 7 months. Have the bene see a doctor ASAP to see which shots are required in case it will take this long.

They will give the MMR shots. The follow up shots can be done in the USA. I had mine done at my local county health clinic for 23 dollars. My daughters were free.
