This is not religious specifically but the best place to put a religious question. I see posts where a person has issues in trying to immigrate, or family problems, or whatever, and a reply will say "Just put your trust in Jesus and all will be fine." Not everyone is catholic/christian, we may as well be saying trust Allah, Buddah, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Secondly I think we need to be proactive and not simply put 100% in faith but that's just me.

Does anyone here get offended when the "answer" to your question is religious?

Nope. I mean, I do understand your feeling but at the other side I am not going to bashing all those people who put their religious answer to my question. I grew up in difference-religion family so I do not think it is a big deal for me.

It can be at least slightly irksome. Some immigration-related elements of our government are so evil that "trust in the Divine" is fruitless. Thanks for bringing up this issue.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Some people get offended when someone says "Have a nice day" to them, too.

There's enough big stuff to get bent over, no need to sweat the little things.

Don't find it upsetting at all.

What I do find is that it's hilarious!

If things are going well with the process "OH THANK GOD/JESUS/ALLAH//ETC"

if things are going bad with the process "%$@%^&% THE USCIS/USA"

erm, what?

Didn't they take in account, perhaps, that their deity is not helping the process for them because the deity in question disapproves of them?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Nope, not at all. They took the time to address the question when they didn't have to and although you might not find it very helpful keep things in perspective and move on.

the bolden is what irks me. why is it that atheist feel the need to insult or berate someone elses spiritual beliefs?...hey is an atheist is okay w/ feeling they are nothing more than a fungus that grew on the side of a rock...fine. there is no need to attempt to belittle people that think more of themselves.

I'm not trying to belittle anyone, The FSM holds the position of "etc..." since this world has too many gods to count. I'm not an atheist but those I know are rather tolerant. In my experiences the extremists are usually very religiously close.

I hear ya bro but there are more laid back Atheists..... it's just the obsessed one give them all a bad name.

THe "spaghetti monster" is a mocking sorta phrase some use to suggest a Spaghetti Monster is as likely to be real as God is, but I don't see anyone

-Being persecuted for believing in the Spaghetti Monster.

-Nor is anyone moved to fund and build Hospitals, Orphanages, Colleges or soup Kitchens who believe in the S.M.

-I don't even see anyone comforted by the S.M. in times of grief.

Atheism is every bit a faith as any other, unless you have in fact been everywhere to know he does not exist, unless you have "passed on to the other side" to know what awaits you.... you are stepping out in faith that God in some form does not exist.

what does that mean?

It means the most intolerant people I have ever met are very religious. Their god or no god. I know several people of several beliefs and the deeper they are into their belief, the less tolerance they have for someone else having a different belief.

I have met many tolerant atheists, they laugh at the beliefs of others and walk away, the ones I know do not try to convert anyone. But there are those religious types who hand out tracts in airports calling you names for not believing, there are those who knock on my door and refuse to hear any counter arguments, and there are those who kill in the name of religion because they are so wrapped up in it. I did not sat etc, that is correct, but I could have added whoever, whatever, or ad infinitum. I decided to add FSM for some humor and to also show the number of gods out there.

Wow it would be nice is all religions were hassled as much as the FSM followers. Talk about freedom to practice. :-)
