Hi guys,

I have received my 2 years conditional GC, and we have moved to a new place (different city but in the same State). I do not receive any claim/benefit from

social security administration. I wonder if I need to update my new address with social security administration.

I don't think it is required for social security. I believe that is automatically updated when taxes are filed. You will need to update it with immigration. That can be done online at no cost.

Agree with the above. You don't change it with the SSA because they don't keep a record of your address.

All correct, SSA will need your address when you get close to retirement to send statements. You are good to go.

Yup, no need to update your address with SSA - just make sure to file the AR-11, Change of Address - http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/ar-11.pdf with USCIS within 10 days of moving.

You can also do it online at https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa

Your sponsor must also file I-865, Sponsor's Notice of Change of Address - http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-865.pdf

MOST LPRs do not receive this stuff.

Changing your address with them will not be useful, one less thing to worry about.

Supposedly there is some linkage between IRS and SSA, so the next time a tax return is filed with the IRS, the address is updated with SSA. Supposedly.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I called the IRS a while back to verify which address they had on file for us because we wanted to request tax transcripts online and it turns out that when we filed an Official Change of Address with USPS, they reported it to the IRS too (the IRS goes by the NCOA database http://www.nationalchangeofaddress.com ) ^_^ The SSA most likely goes by the NCOA too or whatever the IRS has on file. :)
