Hello :)

Thanks to everyone who's helped us on our journey thusfar! It's been stressful but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Our P3 hasn't been logged yet, but hopefully soon.

Has anyone booked an interview in Montreal lately? How far out are they booking - March, April?

Thanks in advance!

The general trend seems to be 3-4 months from the day of booking, but sometimes if you're lucky (you snag a date as soon as they open up a block or snag someone else's canceled date) you get it earlier. Montreal has a tendency to sit on slots for a loooooooong time and they open up a block of them all at once.

Yes, we schedule our own interviews. K-1s do, anyway. Not sure how it works with other visa types.

I just checked the site and it said no appointments available. I hope that changes soon!

Last time there were some people waiting quite a few months for dates to open up and even then some people missed out because they didn't click on it the exact second the dates opened! then all the slots were full. Some people ended up waiting quite a while for interviews because of this - hopefully this doesn't happen to you guys but just keep a heads up that Montreal does this.

That would be devastating!!! I'm going to keep checking. We have our whole wedding planned and ready to go - and I don't want our guests to book travel if we can't get married that weekend!!

It's never a good idea to make wedding plans before you have your Visa in hand, especially if you're going through an unpredictable consulate like Montreal. I hope everything works out for you.

I called to schedule my appointment in montreal back in November and at the time, there were some appointments still available for december and a couple for January. We needed some time still so I scheduled our appointment for January 23. I was rather shocked when I went to schedule for the first time and there were actually some appointments available because I had been reading on here that montreal can be so difficult to even get a appointment and the whole thing about refreshing your screen constantly till you a appointment opened up. I had myself all prepared to do a lot of sitting at the computer and refreshing constantly until something showed up. :) Hopefully montreal doesn't get too far behind and make those of you that still need to schedule wait for a long time.

That has to be so frustrating to be able to finally schedule and their site telling you that there are no appointments available.

Best of luck to all of you that are going to be scheduling in Montreal soon.

I won't be able to attend my fiances interview in montreal, but I asked him to make sure he rights up a good interview review for me to post here for everyone. I've read all the reviews and they have been very informative and helpful.

I don't disagree with you, but we have been planning for two years. We've said, if things don't work out, we'll just have a vacation and elope another time. That would make us perfectly happy, since we are just ready and excited to be married.

I know the feeling :) I hope it all works out for you and you can have your wedding the way you've planned it.

Yes, things have changed from two years ago!

They have an online system for K1s to go online and book interviews. It's a definite improvement from our days.

I like some would disagree, as if ur not paying attention, the dates go by pretty fast. Or do they automatically slot you in if you do not eventually sign up??

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I have no idea, but it sure beats sitting around for months waiting to get a date assigned to you and then only having a few weeks to plan a trip to Montreal. I got assigned a Wednesday, which was extremely inconvenient. I would've much preferred a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.

Depends on how much control someone likes to have. For me, that's priceless.
