Slim. Stop eating the gun powder. I stated having a gun is your right. In no uncertain or vague terms.

You have the right to be a mountain climber. Mountain climbing entails risk.

You have the right to skydive. Skydiving entails risk.

You have the right to own a gun. Owning a gun entails adding a certain amount of risk to you and your loved ones. You can quibble, you can minimize, but you only sound dumb denying there is risk involved in gun ownership.

Where is this risk or danger you guys keep talking about? Post some numbers, please.

I've posted several sources of danger all worse than firearms yet theres no call to have those thing banned. Why not?

As previously stated, the very properties which can make a gun useful in defense against a 'bad guy' are the properties which make guns a risk. Bloviate all you wish, but add to your risk you do.

you can have 25 felonies on your record. and still buy a pool.

In a way yes, you need a planning permit for a swimming pool in most jurisdictions and both the pool and property must meet safety requirements.

No you have not. Again I don't disagree but post stats if u are making a claim. Like 1 child dies from1100 pools etc

Boom!

The circular saw in my garage adds no more danger to my fingers than the knives in my kitchen.

Are you still trying to insinuate an inanimate object adds a level of danger to someone?

you can have 25 felonies on your record. and still buy a pool.

Where's the outrage?

Why don't you choose to defend yourself against an intruder with your circular saw Slim???

That Levitt report is what I saw before. Mind you per my earlier post it doesn't factor in exposure.

You can have a clean record and be denied a pool.

I would if I was in my garage and didn't have my gun with me. A circular saw would make a great weapon!

That Levitt report is what I saw before. Mind you per my earlier post it doesn't factor in exposure.

There are no exact numbers on guns or cars. Swimming pools are pretty well accounted for but there's probably no good way to quantify bodies of water since bathtubs, showers, rain buckets, etc., are temporary sources of possible danger.

I doubt we'll come up with any good numbers on exposure so lets use some assumptions. We can assume there are appx. the same number of cars and guns in this country. (My searches yield around 200 million of each) However, the firearms are owned by about 80 million people and the cars are owned by about double that. Probably every single person in this country comes in contact with a motor vehicle every day. Probably less than 40 million come in contact with a firearm.

Now, how many people have personally been involved in an auto accident?

How many have been involved in a firearms accident?

Of all the people who carry a concealed firearm or transport firearms to the range I wonder how many have been in at least one motor vehicle accident. How many of those have been shot?

I will concede exposure probably has a lot to do with the increased number of auto accidents. But access and exposure to pools and other water sources is probably a lot closer to our exposure to firearms. If that's the case, why are there so many more drownings than accidental firearms deaths?

Well a whoopsie doodle doo. This would obviously still have happened if he didn't own a gun, maybe he would have slipped and drowned in a pool?

It's possible he could've slipped and fallen in the shower and drowned. Someone drunk enough to accidentally shoot themself in the head could've died a million other ways as well.

Here's one for you though... this guy fell down and died. There was no gun anywhere around. How could he die if there was no gun around?

Death without a gun?

I remember this when it was on the news. I am from Broken Arrow oklahoma. In the last 12 months there have been two cases just in Muskogee oklahoma were intruders have shot and killed children in the house. The most recent was in december were a 2 year old was shot and killed by a guy trying to break in to someones house. The other kid last year was a 4 year old and was stabbed over 50 times with a pair os scissors for no reason. The intruder did not know the family at all. People around here are getting hit hard with it. I always carry hollow points in my 357 nowadays.
