2 yrs US tax returns

oops that should have said 3 not 2.

I was must getting stuff together and realized it asks for the last 3 yrs of US Tax returns. We have been in Canada for 3 yrs so do they want the last 3 yrs my husband lived in the US?

Most recent tax return and go backwards from there.

US citizen should have been filing taxes for the US as well as in Canada when working at a job in Canada.

The purpose is to show he had enough income to support you both. He's been living in Canada this whole time? why are you coming back to the US? why not stay there!! I wish I could convince him to go back...so much betterrrr. Anyway, even if he hasn't been in the US, does he not still file his taxes in the US? I filed in both Countries while I lived in the US while going to school. I had no income, but still have to file.

We went to some special dude at H&R and had to pay extra but I don't recall him filing both places. #######.

He should of been filing both places - the IRS is starting to go after US citizens who are not filing taxes while living in Canada - they took this old 80+ year old woman to the cleaners, she never lived in the US, only Canada, but was US citizen and never filed taxes to the IRS.

don;t worry. if he doesn't owe, its not a big deal and can just file now.

He won't owe and in fact that might work out well for us financially. I wish H&R had told us!

In answer to the question he has not been working in Canada the whole time, he only had a work permit for a little over a year and then he got a refusal due to use not inluding his son who is an adult and was not coming to Canada (incorrect info from Canadian Immigration).
