Hello VJers!

So I had my interview on December 7th and expected it to be smooth sailing from there. I was confident that all the documents necessary were received and that they would issue the visa no problem. Long story short it took 3 hours and my visa was denied. The CO requested 3 years Federal income tax returns for my husband and W2's, Canadian police certificate and an additional medical assessment due to my previous dui in 2007. After gathering all the documents I submitted them and the consulate received them December 28, 2011. The paper I received at the consulate says it takes 6-8 weeks for review but an email from the consulate says they will review within 4 weeks. Has anyone recently experienced this same situation and how long did it take for the passport to be returned?

I lived in the US for 11 years, moved there when I was 15 with my parents but by the time they received their green cards I was over 21. I met my husband when I was 20 and the CO didn't really seem concerned with my story or how we met etc. He just thoroughly went through my case on the screen. It was a bit odd and not what I expected from all the reviews I read prior to. It seemed like he was looking for things. Anyway, when I asked him how long it would be before I could go home to my husband he started rambling "well it totally depends, we have a security clearance all the mail goes through, and then it gets organized by case and there is only 2 people that handle that and then it goes on my desk and who knows, could be another 3/4 months!" He said it so nonchalantly I was on the verge of tears. Anyway, the mail is sent and now I'm just waiting again. I'm going on my 7th month now. I just can't wait to go home.

Anyway words of advice would be kindly appreciated!

Happy New Year!
