Advance Parole Required Or Not?

Hi. My wife arrived just last week, and we are planning to travel outside of America.

Now, I read that her K-3 visa is a "multiple entry visa good for 2 years" (http://www.visajourney.com/content/k3flow step 17)... but I also read somewhere that "advance parole is necessary for travel outside the U.S. before adjustment of status is completed."

So: If I submit my wife's application for adjustment of status, does that mean that she cannot leave the U.S. until she gets Advance Parole? Will leaving the country without A.P. cancel the visa? Or is the visa still a multiple entry visa valid for 2 years? I'm confused.

Thanks for the help.

Advance Parole for K-3 or K-4 Family Members

Applicants presently in the United States in a K-3 or K-4 nonimmigrant classification may travel outside the United States and return using their K-3 or K-4 nonimmigrant visa. The only time advance parole is necessary is if the K-3 or K-4 nonimmigrant visa has expired and the applicant has an adjustment of status application that remains pending.
