I don't think can ever managed to shoot anything or just pick up the gun- in my country, people are not allow to carry a gun unless they are in military or after passed the strict regulations which is only a few people did it- I might be change my mind later, though. For now, I am just curious about his philosophy and made him became the deadliest sniper in US history. Thank you for suggestion, I would going to buy the book by online and delivered it to his apartment.

Check my "photos" for Alla's shooting ability. Not 2100 yds to be sure, but if one knows their rifle, knows the precise distance (laser rangefinders make that easy and they did not have them in VietNam) then one can plunk in shots at astounding ranges. We routinely shoot at 600 yard (540 meters) in competition, 1000 yds for BPCR competition. All with metallic sights...no scopes! Any of these competitors could make kill shots on man sized targets at 600 or 1000 yards with iron sights!

I certainly take nothing away from this man as it is entirely different in combat conditions and I do not compare such to shooting holes in paper...but as it addresses the ability of the equipment...oh yeah!

As for should he be proud of this? Of course he should! He did an excellent job for his country doing what they sent him to do. He saved a LOT of innocent lives by surgically removing bad people without no collateral damage at all. Bully for him!

FYI Alla was trained to shoot beginning in 8th grade during the Soviet Union, ALL school students were trained in military firearms every year through college!

In the US you will be able to buy and own guns once you have your green card. Alla couldn't wait! One of her favorite thinsg about the US. She loved to shoot but owning a gun in Ukraine was difficult. She had learned in school but did not take the guns home.

She has now purchased her own rifle here (it was her birthday present but she wanted to "buy it" herself) and she buys her own ammunition and goes shooting more than I do. She keeps her shooting bag in the car so she only has to pick up her rifle and go. :P

She owns a rifle and shotgun so far and now wants a .22 target handgun that she has selected herself (S&W M41, the girl knows a good gun!) and also wants an AR15 for CMP matches, I have one but she wants her "own" rifle.

US Militrary Snipers are trained to do to one thing. Kill on the First shot. No room for errors. There is a reason for this though Murder is Murder and a preventatitive measure. It is very rare for the CO to command Injure the target only. So, It is fair that Snipers are allowed to get back after an Attack.

Yes, I did see her pictures a while ago,tongue.gif. She looks cool with it but I am afraid can't do that way likewise.

I can clean her clock on the skeet field with my eyes closed. She won't even shoot skeet if I go anywhere near one of my skeet guns. I can coach her only, if I get out one of my guns, she runs away to the rifle range.

She has been consistently beating me in rifle position shooting lately(standing, sitting, prone) when we shoot a full match course, but I have still been beating her in the standing stage. She has the prone and sitting stages nailed and is really really difficult to beat. She shoots high expert scores in those stages. 91/100 or better. And this is at ranges to 200 yards!

She will start shooting rifle competition this year and she is going to be hard for anyone to beat, and that is no joke. She practices for hours 2-3 times per week. Tomorrow we will go and she will shoot for 2-3 hours non-stop and you better not interrupt her or talk to her when she is shooting!

One thing you need to about Alla is she likes to WIN. Whether it is scrabble, bowling, shooting, skating, or her studies whatever she does she has to be the BEST, she will knock herself out until she IS the best, or she just will not do it.

She has been nominated for a position on the board of directors at our club and the annual meeting is next week. We will see if she wins in the election.

Her style is really inspired me. star_smile.gif. But I hope she does not have to WIN when had a heat argue with you,tongue.gif.

If we argued...she would win. So why bother?

She handles her rifle like she has done it since she was born. Very impressive to watch, even for men that have shot for may years. I can honestly say I am proud of that...."Oh yeah, THAT's my wife!" There is no question she knows what she is doing and is comfortable with her rifle. She then fills the bullseye with bullet holes one after the other with disturbing efficiency. It is like watching any other athlete skilled at their craft.

My most often uttered words on approaching her targets is "Oh holy #######!" :o

If so, she should get Appleseeds at "her" range. We need some new venues and a few more good instructors up that way.
