What I don't understand is why it would take USCIS longer to process an I-130 application vs an 129-f application. Maybe a less rigorous background check?

They are not processing applications, they are processing petitions. Different petitions have different criteria that must be looked at.

Have you contacted the USCIS by telephone to check your status? They have been saying for at least a month now that they are working applications from 6/15. I would also suggest contacting your Congressman's office and have their Immigration liason do an inquiry for you.

BTW, i'm sure you are 'thrilled' when you see that the last 3 reported NOA2s were from VJers who filed in December.

They've been saying that now for at least two, maybe three, months.

About as thrilled as I am when people post up that they were approved in 6 - 15 days flat...

It is my understanding that K3 visas haven't been issued for a year or two because the processing time for the K3 and IR-1/CR-1 are about the same these days. When the K3 visa was created couples were waiting 1-2 years in some cases for their IR-1/CR-1 visas to be issued.

What I don't understand is why it would take USCIS longer to process an I-130 application vs an 129-f application. Maybe a less rigorous background check?

The ironic part of that being that the processing times for IR-1s/CR-1s (at least for us poor people at CSC) are starting to approach a year again. After all, if it takes 6 months to get out of USCIS, one to get into NVC, at least one to get out of NVC, and another till the interview...

I wonder how much more hate it's going to cause now that they aren't allowing DCFs unless there is a local USCIS office. So all those applications will now come here and clog the already slow as ####### CSC.

I wonder if in the not too distant future we'll see average times out of USCIS for us unlucky ones approaching 8 or even 10 months.

Either way, I'm sure they'll still be working on 16June the whole time

Apparently the people who are getting approved in weeks are people who have been living together for a while and who's spouse is from a low fraud country. I wonder if they treat these the same as if they were a DCF. If that is the case we will now have to watch even more people get approved before we do.

That's probably the case. While it may not be the most charitable thing I have to admit that it is annoying to watch people who ought to be behind us approved long before us. It is a whole other level of annoying to watch people who are living together and get to see each other every day approved long before we who are separated for months and only get to spend a few days every few months together.

It reminds me of the time I saw someone from Michigan complaining that the process for their Canadian spouse was taking so long. They were in Detroit.. their SO.. London, Ontario.... 2 hours and change of driving apart...

I admit.. the thought that went through my head as I was looking at that and pondering my next 16 hour $1000+ flight to China was: "Cry me a frakking river..."

Icing on the cake was they went to VSC so were approved out of USCIS really quickly...

Tomorrow is 6months after got NOA1 im july5 idont know what to do or say idont know what uscis doing its 6months and frankly im not thinking can get any answer soon cus uscis killed our dreams already

i am a july filer too, july 20. i have a friend who filed a day after you and she got her NOA2 mid december. i was expecting mine before end of 2011, but that didn't happen. my husband called our immigration lawyer who told him today that the delay is expected because of the holidays. i am so frustrated right now, but thankfully, i will be seeing my husband in a few days (after being apart for 8months--which is like a few days after our wedding!)..if it were not for this trip he is making, i might be at my wits end!

what is wrong with USCIS?! am i correct to assume that US government offices immediately resume working the next day after new year (unlike canada/UK/australia/nz where their holidays extended until tuesday this week!)..?

I haven't seen my husband since he went back on the 2nd of Aug, three weeks after our wedding. I wonder how much longer I'll have to wait before I get to meet him. Unfortunately, neither of our finances allow us to travel as often as we'd like to! God help us!!!

i am with you here. although i am from the philippines, i am working overseas because we need to save a lot. this trip is very expensive since i am currently in the pacific and right now it is summer here, peak season to be precise. what we did the past couple of months after the wedding was really cut down our expenses, did not eat out, work, work, work, work. his trip here is our gift to each other & is considered our honeymoon

My husband and I decided not to call USCIS since i check some random cases and see that other 4 cases which have the same NOA1 (June 8) havent been approved, and other 4 or 5 cases which NOA1 is June 9 still havent been approved. I asked my attorney when i passed 5 months time and he told me that it can take 7, 8 months for an approval. Since our case's background isnt simple so I somehow know that im not gonna have quick approval, but i really cant imagine that it takes that long so far. And i havent seen my husband since Jan 5 last year. But we plan for a trip in Feb anyways. I hope he can make it soon.

Given the complete lack of new approvals, with the exception of ones that probably would have been DCF and/or expedited, it seems CSC has stopped working again.Meanwhile.. VSC is still cruising along...
